When You Can Start Right Away

Generally, the best response is to convey a willingness to start work as soon as possible. The employer will be thrilled with your flexibility, and it will help ensure a smooth transition to the new role.

However, if you do have another job while you'rein the application processfor a new one, you need to be tactful with your answer. This type of question can be a mechanism to test your ethics.
