Intersectionality of Marxism and Human Trafficking (2024)

I want to start this article and subject off by saying that I’ve been following this topic for some time. In my article “Intersectionality of Marxism and Mass-Migration” was a building block to this topic.

However a new report just hit the news which prompted me to get to writing. Below is the article.

The discovery is among the first overt connections between Chinese nationals aligned with the CCP and the sprawling network of illicit drug trafficking sites located throughout rural Maine. BY STEVE ROBINSONMAY 15, 2024 Article found here

“In the town of Dexter, Maine, a seemingly abandoned property on Highland Avenue that once operated as an illicit marijuana cultivation site sits less than a mile from the U.S. Army Reserve Training Center on Prospect Street.

In the driveway of that abandoned drug hub sits a BMW containing t-shirts affiliated with the Sijiu Association of NYC — a Chinese national group with ties to the Chinese consulate in New York and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).”

Intersectionality of Marxism and Human Trafficking (1)

“Photographs obtained by the Maine Wire show the t-shirts strapped over the driver and passenger side seats in the BMW. In addition to the BMW, there is cargo van at the property that appears to have been customized on the inside with bench seating to transport a large number of individuals.”

More from the article..

“Pro-CCP associations in America function similarly to the pro-Nazi German-American Bund groups active in the U.S. during the 1930s.

The members of such Chinese-American organizations are loyal to the Communist Party, and the groups work to ensure that Chinese nationals living abroad remain faithful to the CCP.

The associations are all linked to the CCP United Front Work Department (UFWD), which is responsible for influence and espionage operations in the U.S.

According to the federal government, UFWD operatives aim, among other things, to gain influence over individuals and organizations.

Individuals and groups operating under the banner of UFWD have been linked to organized crime in Europe, as well as to illegal election influence campaigns in Canada.”

“The Dexter property where the pro-CCP merchandise has been found was purchased by Du Zhen Li of Brooklyn, New York, in Feb. 2021.”

Now let’s continue on with “Intersectionality of Marxism and Mass-Migration”

Part 2

SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. — Human trafficking is one of the many detrimental effects of Siskiyou County's illegal marijuana cultivation sites.

Human Trafficking to include peonage (debt bondage) is taking place with migrants from China and other countries that have crossed the Southern Border.

•Victims are being forced and/or are recruited to work in the farms of Shasta Vista, one of the county’s largest illegal black market marijuana growing areas.

Sheriff LaRue from Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office explained how the traffickers are finding their victims, on China's primary social media Wechat and sometimes on Craigslist.

•Victims come from all over and are promised prosperity only to learn later that they are not paid, but instead must pay off the debt owed to traffickers for travel or shelter and food or ….. smuggling fee.

Are victims being sold from the smuggling gang to the illegal marijuana cultivation gangs?

Sheriff LaRue Key Points:

Labor trafficking (human trafficking) is a problem that should have caught the attention of all the pertinent agencies, state and federal.

•Are State and Federal agencies enabling human trafficking and illegal marijuana grows by not confronting it?

California County jurisdictions are often left to fight (human trafficking, environmental disaster, social service costs, and remediation) alone

•The victims are often provided shacks or illegal boarded up structures that are illegal, out of code, without proper heating, cooling, sewage and electricity.

oSome of the victims are held against their will or paying off debt (smuggling fee?)

oMany are undocumented or have California Drivers licenses

oSome have passports from foreign countries—China being one of them

oOfficials are seeing a rise in unaccompanied minors who are lured by a “sponsor” on social media apps such as like WhatsApp

California vs Maine:

Maine is getting the feds involved, California is not working with well with Federal Agencies who has the jurisdiction, tools, and resources to combat the Trans-National Criminal Organizational issues.

Investigators from the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI have aided local Sherriff’s departments in Maine.

  • The have found that the Human Trafficking and illegal marijuana grows are tied to Chinese Organized Crime groups.

In Maine, like California, Human Trafficking of Chinese and other migrants are also taking place in rural counties without limited resources (isolated).

Penobscot, Kennebec, and Bangor Maine are seeing the same issues.

  • According to NewsCenter Maine:

  • https://www.newscentermaine.com/article/news/crime/illegal-marijuana-grows-chinese-workers-maine-court-documents-investigation/97-ae363572-3d17-479a-bc90-5ea509eaecfc

Police in Kennebec County received a tip from residents at a suspected grow site in the town of China

•Victims were pleading to be rescued.

According to an affidavit, they told police,

•"We are imprisoned

•we were abducted from China,

•passports were confiscated.

•Only work but no salary,"

According to the report, while raiding a cultivation site in February, police interviewed Guanshi Yani, who allegedly said he was taken to Maine against his will from New York.

•Sixty-seven-year-old Xisen Guo of New York was arrested for Unlawful Trafficking in Scheduled drugs and an investigation is still ongoing, according to the Penobscot Sheriff's Office.

Question: What happed to the victims after they told authorities about being abducted and imprisoned at the grows?

Did they get their passports that were confiscated by the gangs back?

What can transnational gangs do with the passports?

Find relatives?

Retaliate?

Silence them?

Nothing to see here, move along.

SISKIYOU COUNTY Sheriff LaRue continues his calls for help from California Agencies such as Department of Cannabis Control, CAL EPA, the Waterboard, the Department of Fish and Wildlife, Cal OES. Sheriff LaRue has also requested help from the Office of Governor.

•LaRue stated that the State of California has helped a bit, but described it as ancillary.

•LaRue’s request for support from the legislature or executive orders from the Governors office, or additional funding to combat the issues has fallen on deaf ears.

Sheriff LaRue cannot understand why State or Federal Agencies are not responding with the level of support seen previously.

In Siskiyou, illegal grow sites with Trafficked victims are overwhelming the county resources. As soon as one grow is remediated, another one pops up. Siskiyou county efforts have only been able to address 6-8% of the total illegal grow sites each year.

•Trans-national criminal organizations making billions from illegal activity are overwhelming limited resources found in Counties like Siskiyou.

To combat organized crime and Human Trafficking there needs to be a unified effort that leverages State and Federal law enforcement tools to uncover and go after the leaders.

•Are foreign led Chinese Triad Gangs, Mexican Cartels, and alien smuggling networks working together?

California State leadership has essentially said that we need to have strong environmental laws, then refuses to enforce the laws they champion.

The Governors task force came up to Siskiyou County during the summer to help with eradication, but Sheriff LaRue says it was only for a couple of days to serve search warrants, seize $65 Million in marijuana crops, and assist with some site remediation.

•"it's just gotten so out of control"

•"it's an environmental disaster”

“one week in the year … it’s not enough to get anything done," Sheriff LaRue said.

Hundreds of illegal Marijuana grow sites operated by Transnational Criminal Organizations have cropped up throughout the US not just in Maine.

“Having personal knowledge of how long it takes to investigate, target, litigate, and ultimately deport transnational gang leaders/members is going to take 10-25 years. The Marxist (commonly referred to as progressives) know, understand, and are desperate to achieve their goals as fast as possible. Before the peasants wake up, and revolt en mass.

Shout out to Maine. Are they the only states noticing and doing anything about the problem or it is “classified” by XYZ agency?

All of the following is from the Maine Wire’s reporting which you can find here

https://www.themainewire.com/triad-weed/

Since the Maine Wire started reporting on the locations of this illicit drug trafficking hubs and identifying the owners and operators, law enforcement has increasingly begun to crack down on the criminal operations.

Although more than 200 sites remain operational in rural Maine, here’s a running list of the properties where law enforcement agencies have executed search warrants, arrested drug traffickers, and seized illegally grown cannabis.

Intersectionality of Marxism and Human Trafficking (2024)

FAQs

Is intersectionality a Marxist theory? ›

In this sense, what intersectionality theorists call 'subjugated knowledges' enumerated from a 'situated' standpoint is quite crucial to Marxism; the difference between these perspectives is that many of the orthodox Marxist accounts recognise only class as a situated perspective, whereas intersectionality theorists ...

What is the intersectionality theory in simple words? ›

Intersectionality recognizes that different forms of discrimination and privilege often intersect and create unique challenges for people with multiple identities. For instance, a woman of color may face obstacles that a white woman or man of color might not.

What is Jennifer Nash's critique of intersectionality? ›

Nash identifies intersectionality as the primary program-building initiative of women's studies, which has rendered it as a disciplinary corrective to a racist and wholly gender-focused field, but often as an implicit equivalency with Black feminism, Black feminists, and “the body that haunts the analytic,” Black women ...

What is the main idea of intersectionality? ›

Intersectionality instead aims to shed light on how multiple dimensions and systems of inequality interact with one another and create distinct experiences and outcomes. Intersectionality is not about pitting different people or groups against each other to assess who is most marginalised or disadvantaged.

What does Marxist theory argue? ›

Marxism is one of the major social and political theories offered to provide insights into international relations. Unlike other theories, economics is the driving force of political and social change in Marxist thought. In a nutshell, Marxism argues that political and social change is driven by class struggle.

What type of theory is Marxism? ›

A conflict theory is a theory which regards society as based on inequality and conflict. Conflict theorists argue that large scale changes are necessary in order to improve society. One consensus theory is Functionalism. One example of a conflict theory is Marxism.

What is a good example of intersectionality? ›

For example, a Roma woman might experience discrimination based on both her gender and ethnicity. Intersectionality is important for gender equality because it helps us understand how different forms of discrimination interact and exacerbate inequality.

How to explain intersectionality? ›

Intersectionality is the acknowledgement that everyone has their own unique experiences of discrimination and oppression and we must consider everything and anything that can marginalise people – gender, race, class, sexual orientation, physical ability, etc.

What best describes intersectionality? ›

Intersectionality (or intersectional theory) is a term first coined in 1989 by American civil rights advocate and leading scholar of critical race theory, Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw. It is the study of overlapping or intersecting social identities and related systems of oppression, domination, or discrimination.

What is one of the key concepts of intersectionality? ›

The authors present six core ideas of intersection- ality as an analytical tool: social inequality, intersecting power relations (structural, disciplinary, cultural and interpersonal), social context, relationality, social justice and complexity.

Which person best illustrates the concept of intersectionality? ›

The concept of intersectionality was introduced to the field of legal studies by black feminist scholar Kimberlé Crenshaw, who used the term in a pair of essays published in 1989 and 1991.

What is the feminist view of intersectionality? ›

Intersectionality is a term used to describe how different factors of discrimination can meet at an intersection and can affect someone's life. Adding intersectionality to feminism is important to the movement because it allows the fight for gender equality to become inclusive.

What is a misconception about intersectionality? ›

One common misconception about intersectionality is that it defines someone's value. Some think it means that multiple marginalized identities make a person more moral, credible, and important than those who don't have as many.

How does intersectionality affect society? ›

Intersectionality allows us to see how multiple systems of structural oppression—such as structural racism, structural sexism, structural heteropatriarchy, and others—overlap and reinforce each other to concentrate power among the most privileged groups in society and exclude those with multiple marginalized identities ...

What is the most important aspect of intersectionality? ›

Intersectionality is a lens used to ensure no one is left out of our fight for justice and equal rights.
