How long do international payments take to clear HSBC? ›

Some countries and regions may have a maximum limit for inbound payments, so it's important you check with them first. Global Transfers between HSBC accounts are usually instant in most currencies, but it could take up to 5 working days in some countries.

Cardholders can choose to allow international transactions also on their debit card or vice versa. For this the customer can call HSBC PhoneBanking OR submit a 'Local/International Card Usage Form' at the nearest HSBC Branch.

While domestic wire transfers can be completed within one business day, international transfers typically take one to five business days, and they can take longer depending on a variety of factors. In rare cases, a perfectly executed transfer can reach the recipient within a single business day.

From 14 December 2023, payments made to a new payee via online banking using a web browser will be processed in approximately 1 to 2 business days. You can still make real-time payments to existing payees with HSBC Australia accounts if you set up these payees before 14 December 2023.

'Daily cross-border transfer master limit' is a daily master limit of up to HKD3,000,000 or equivalent covering all global payments / transfers[@transfer-and-payment-payeelimit-gbawmc] via HSBC HK App and Online Banking.

Other lenders like Halifax release the funds after the exchange of contracts, so it takes the lender an average of 8 to 12 days. On the other hand, some lenders like HSBC may take as long as 2 weeks to release mortgage funds.

An international ACH transfer will take anywhere from 1 to 5 business days, with an average of 3 days. This is largely due to the way they are processed. Banks collect all ACH requests in batches. This means it may take a few hours to process a payment and upload it into the system.
