For Evan McCauley (Mark Wahlberg), skills he has never learned and memories of places he has never visited haunt his daily life. Self-medicated and on the brink of a mental breakdown, Evan is sought by a secret group that call themselves “Infinites,” revealing to him that his memories may be real--but they are from multiple past lives. The Infinites bring Evan into their extraordinary world, where a gifted few are given the ability to be reborn with their memories and knowledge accumulated over centuries. With critical secrets buried in his past, Evan must work with the Infinites to unlock the answers in his memories in a race against time to save humanity from one of their own (Chiwetel Ejiofor) who seeks to end all life to stop what he views as the cursed, endless cycle of reincarnation.

Critics Consensus

An initially intriguing sci-fi thriller that quickly veers into incoherence, Infinite is as inane as it is inconsequential.

Infinite | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald The visuals are spectacular, but things get increasingly derivative as they progress, and Jason Mantzoukas' ill-conceived comic-relief character falls clangingly flat. Rated: 3/5 Aug 11, 2021 Full Review Infinite | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Lindsey Bahr Associated Press It's exactly the kind of big, silly, occasionally exciting spectacle that have come to define summer movie season, for better or worse. There's even an opening for a sequel. Rated: 2/4 Jun 18, 2021 Full Review Infinite | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News "Infinite" is overcluttered with special effects and plagued by wooden acting and doesn't have one genuine character in it. Rated: 1/4 Jun 16, 2021 Full Review Infinite | Rotten Tomatoes (4) M.N. Miller Ready Steady Cut With so many past lives to choose from, the filmmakers of Infinite still repeated the same mistakes when there should have been limitless possibilities. Instead, it’s an endless exercise in suspense-free filmmaking. Rated: 1.5/5 Oct 9, 2022 Full Review Infinite | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Zoë Rose Bryant Loud and Clear Reviews Infinite is at times comedically convoluted, but thanks to brilliant world-building and stellar action setpieces, it’s riotously entertaining regardless. Rated: 3/5 Sep 1, 2022 Full Review Infinite | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies Perhaps the movie’s biggest shortcoming is that it spends a lot of time talking about relationships from the past rather than building any meaningful new ones on screen. Elaine B Well it started off quite promising, then for me it started to not make that sense the message did not come across that well. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/12/24 Full Review Ben A Awesome, suspenseful and edge of the seat entertainment. Has everything it needed to make it a instant classic. And leaves you wanting to see more. Great cast and a must see in 2024 and beyond. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/05/24 Full Review Jim F Concept has potential (reincarnation and magic). - A few okay action scenes. - Script was beyond stupid. - Like in the beginning of the film the main guy is a master blacksmith and effortlessly makes a katana sword so incredible that its existence alerts two big organizations that are searching for him (a sword worth many thousands of dollars) - but he makes it literally just so he can trade the sword with his super violent insane drug dealer for a small bag of prescription drugs - with the reason being that the main guy is "too poor" to get the pills legitimately. What? - Then the drug dealer immediately tries to cut off his own girlfriends arm with that sword. So dumb. Or when the main bad guy (a super smart ageless being) threatens to shoot the good guy with one bullet that he put in his gun and calls it "250 grams of lead" (a bullet is like 9 grams). If this was in a gangster film it would make sense that someone is stupid enough to say that. - And that's just in the first few minutes of the film. - Really the whole concept is flawed - the bad guy wants to destroy the world because he doesn't want to live.... but he's an eternal spirit that can't be killed.... So.... 🤷 I enjoyed this the first time (skipping some of the boring bits) but the second time I was just annoyed at how stupid it is and didn't even enjoy the action. Rated 1.5/5 Stars • Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/08/24 Full Review Nicky L The concept of "Infinites" (or "reincarnationists" as the source book calls them) - people who recall all their past lives and experiences and find one another over and over again in each new incarnation - is interesting and potentially worthy of a franchise.Unfortunately, this movie's particular plot about a sect of high-tech infinites out to destroy all life ("nihilists") basically because they're bored ruins it. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/08/24 Full Review stupid b Dylan O’Brien. All I needed. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/05/24 Full Review Jim J This story breaks down to nonsensical drivel. The biggest issue for me is that the antagonist has the means to achieve his goal right from the start of the movie. For some reason they do not realise this. Then the antagonist stalls initiating their preffered plan for unknown reason. Top that off with downright stupid action scenes where 'highly trained warriors' die in seconds, and a phoned in performance by the main character. Your time would be better spent watching ants build a nest in your backyard. A true story of survival!Don't watch for the story, it's incomprehensible. Maybe watch for the action scenes, if you like ridiculous over the top bs.1 star is too high imo. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/01/24 Full Review Read all reviews
