After your assessment
The health professional will write a report and send it to the Department for Work and Pensions. We will read the report and any other information we have to help us make a decision. We will then send you a letter.
Why would PIP ring me after assessment? ›
The purpose of the phone call is to ensure the claimant understands the reason why PIP has not been awarded or has been awarded at a lower rate and to answer any questions or concerns that the claimant may have about the decision.
How long does it take PIP to make a decision after assessment? ›
There is no time frame for when a decision must be made on your PIP claim. The Government has planned processing times for benefit decisions, for a PIP application this is 75 working days, but recent figures published confirm that only 51 per cent of decisions are made within this timescale.

How long will it be until I get my appointment? We aim to complete consultations as quickly as possible. Most people receive their appointment details within a few weeks of their claim being passed to us by DWP, however, waiting times may vary during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
How much is PIP payment? ›
The PIP allowance rate you may be entitled to depends on whether you're eligible for the daily living or the mobility components of the DWP assessment. For the daily living component: The lower rate is £72.65 a week. The higher rate is £108.55 a week.
How do you know if your PIP assessment went well? ›
You can request the PIP assessment report (PA4) forty eight hours after your assessment has taken place. Just ring and ask for a copy. If someone says no - just ring off and ring again. Unlike ESA/UC you can have a copy of the assessment report before the decision comes out.

Some assessors watch people from a window walking into the Centre, or ask the claimant how much walking they have done to get to the Centre. Or they observe them walking within the Centre, and comment on that fact.

During the telephone assessment you may be asked to describe how you complete simple tasks such as preparing and cooking food, getting washed and dressed and how you move around outside the home. Don't rush to respond, remember they are looking at your claim form and asking the same questions you have already answered.

They are there to ask you questions and are not there to ensure you get PIP. The assessor will investigate the information you gave on your PIP form but also make judgements based on what you say and do during your PIP assessment. For example, they might ask you how you travelled to the assessment centre.
