Apple does not approve or decline cards for use with Apple Pay. If your card was declined, contact your bank or card issuer. Information about products not manufactured by Apple, or independent websites not controlled or tested by Apple, is provided without recommendation or endorsem*nt.

If you see the message "This card cannot be used," check if your bank or card issuer currently supports Apple Pay: Apple Pay participating banks in Canada, Latin America, and the United States. Apple Pay participating banks in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.

A “payment declined” or “card declined" message means that the issuer of the credit or debit card you have on file in your iTunes account rejected a charge or account confirmation. It is not an Apple problem; Apple is just passing through the message from your issuer.

If this is the first payment that you've received or if you turned off the setting to automatically accept payments, then you need to tap to accept the money. Tap Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay, then make sure that you turned on Apple Cash.

When attempting to make your purchase, especially online or via mobile app, it's easy to incorrectly enter a digit of your credit card number, expiration date or security code. If that's not the issue, maybe your billing address is outdated. These could all be simple explanations for a declined transaction.

Contact your card issuer to see if they support Apple Pay. Update to the latest version of iOS, watchOS, macOS, or visionOS. Confirm that you have Face ID, Touch ID, Optic ID, or a passcode set on your device. Make sure that you are in a supported country or region.

There are several reasons why a debit card may be declined even if you have money in your account. Common reasons include travel and reaching your daily purchase limit. Stay on top of your cards and consider using budgeting apps to help avoid debit card denial.

Add a new, valid payment method, then remove the old payment method. The new payment method is charged automatically. When the outstanding balance has been paid, you can make new purchases or use subscriptions again.

There are a number of reasons the charge or verification might be declined: Apple is not allowed to accept credit or debit cards in your country. The card is not recognized in your country. Insufficient balance or account in arrears.

If your account is restricted while under review, you can't send or receive money with Apple Cash, or add money to your account. If your account is locked while under review, you also can't transfer money to your bank or make purchases with Apple Pay.

You may be able to correct the issue of a declined credit card by trying the transaction again. You may need to remove and re-add your payment method to make sure you entered the information correctly. If your billing address doesn't match your payment method, the ZIP code is incorrect, or you're trying to use an expired card, you'll see a "Payment Not Completed" error.

There is a fix for the issue for most people. If you remove Apple Card from your Wallet app and also your Apple ID Account, restart the iPhone and then add it back, it then works for the vast majority of users experiencing this issue. Of course your experience could be different.
