As with any service supported by Roku, you need to download an app from the Channel Store. On the Roku homescreen, select Streaming Channels, then search for Max. Choose the app from results and install it.
When you open the app, you’ll be prompted to sign in or sign up. When signing in, enter your Max login or — if you have the service through a cable, satellite, or internet package — your provider’s login.
Access to Max is currently restricted to the United States, although that does include American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. It should reach the Caribbean and Latin America by the end of 2023, and Europe and southeast Asia in 2024.
The base ad-supported version of Max costs $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year. Going ad-free hikes those prices to $15.99 and $149.99, respectively. There’s also an Ultimate tier, which adds support for 4K and Dolby Atmos, increases download limits to 100, and supports streaming on 4 simultaneous devices instead of just 2. That option is $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year.
How to get Max on the Roku website
Roku has a web version of the Channel Store. If you find the Max listing, you can hit the Add channel button to link the app to your Roku account (this is replaced by Installed if you already have it). You’ll still have to log into the app when you get to your TV, and it can sometimes take Roku devices a little while to trigger queued downloads.

If you subscribed to Max through an outside source, you have to cancel that way as well. If you signed up through Roku, though, the process is ridiculously easy — cancelling Roku subscriptions takes less than a minute.
Highlight (don’t click) the Max app on your homescreen.
Push the star/asterisk button on your remote.
Select Manage subscription.
Click Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
Alternately, you can visit my.roku.com, sign in to your account, and click Manage your subscriptions. Find Max and choose Cancel subscription.

Try signing in another way (e.g., choose Use Your Remote). Try using a different supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari). Enter the code from your TV at max.com/signin on your computer instead of your phone (or vice versa).
If on a smart TV or streaming device, restart the device itself. Check Connection: Ensure a stable internet connection. Test other apps or websites to rule out broader network issues. Updates: Update the Max app to the latest version.
If the model number is 3500 or lower, your Stick is no longer supported by Roku. Even the 3600 is now a seven year old device. If you have a 3500 or older, you probably just need to replace it.
Start by performing a "System restart" found under Settings->System or Settings->System->Power depending on your Roku model. If that doesn't work, try restarting your network equipment (gateway/modem/router) and Roku device. Just unplug the power from everything for several seconds and plug them back in.
To find out if your provider supports Max, go to max.com/provider and search for your provider, or go to Max providers. HBO Max subscribers with an active subscription have access to Max. Open Max and then depending on how you subscribe to HBO Max, choose either Sign In or Connect Provider.
