The activation process for SBI internet banking is very simple and straightforward and can be done online. You can easily register and start using SBI net banking facility without visiting the branch. Once registered, the SBI net banking facility can be accessed through mobiles, PCs or other compatible electronic devices.
Online transactions, or digital transactions, have become ubiquitous in the last few years. Life without online mode of payment is not possible nowadays. Customers use wide range of options from UPI, netbanking, payment banks to doing digital transactions. Country's largest bank, State Bank of India (SBI), also offers a wide range of digital banking services to its customers. One of its most convenient services is SBI Net Banking, which allows customers to perform various banking transactions online, anytime and anywhere.
But if you are customer of SBI and don't know how to activate your online netbanking account, here is a step-by-step process of activating SBI Net Banking online. The activation process is very simple and straightforward and can be done online. You can easily register and start using SBI Netbanking facility without visiting the branch. Once registered, the SBI net banking facility can be accessed through mobiles, PCs or other compatible electronic devices.
Step 1: Visit the SBI Net Banking website: The first step to activating SBI Net Banking online is to visit the official website of SBI Net Banking -- https://retail.onlinesbi.sbi/retail/login.htm. The website can be accessed through any web browser, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Internet Explorer.
Step 2: Open “Personal Banking Section”: Go to the ‘Personal Banking’ section and select ‘Continue To Login’. By clicking on the ‘Continue to Login’ button, you agree to the Terms of Service (Terms & Conditions) of usage of Internet Banking of SBI.
Step 3: Click on “New User Registration”: You will see an option for “New User Registration/Activate.” Click on this option to proceed to the registration page.

Step 4: Enter your details: On the registration page, you will be asked to enter your account number, CIF number, branch code, country, registered mobile number, and other details. Make sure to enter these details accurately to avoid any errors.
Step 5: Generate an OTP: Once you have entered your details, you will be asked to generate an OTP (One-Time Password). This OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP in the given field and click on “Submit.”
Step 6: Register through ATM Card: It will now show two options - ‘I have my ATM card’ and ‘I do not have my ATM card’. Select the first option and fill ATM card details. Online registration of SBI net banking is possible only with the ATM card, otherwise, you have to visit the bank branch for net banking registration.
Step 7: Click on submit and your temporary username will be displayed on the screen.
Step 8: Create a login password: After entering the OTP, you will be directed to create a login password for SBI Net Banking. Make sure to create a strong and secure password that is easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess.
Step 9: Login to your account: Once you have created your login password, you will be directed to the login page. Enter your username and password to login to your SBI Net Banking account.
Step 10: Complete the registration process: After logging in to your account, you will be asked to complete the registration process. You may need to provide additional information, such as your email address and security questions, to complete the registration process.
Step 11: Activate your account: Once you have completed the registration process, your SBI Net Banking account will be activated. You can now use your account to perform various banking transactions online.
If you do not have the ATM card, you can download the netbanking registration form from SBI website to apply for the internet banking facility. Complete and submit the form to the branch where you hold an account.
