2. Restore Deleted Items using Google Photos
With the Google Photos app you can back up unlimited photos and videos for free, providing they're smaller than 16MP and 1080p resolution.
If you're signed up to Google Photos and have been using it, you can use it now to get your image and video files back.
Open the Google Photos app.
Swipe from the left, and select TrashorBin.
Select Restore at the top.
Select any images you wish to restore, then select Restore at the bottom right.
3. Restore Deleted Items using Google Drive
Alternatively, if you don't have Google Photos or it isn't a lost image you're after, Google Drive allows you to share your files easily between all your devices, as well as access them from anywhere in the world on any other computer you can access.
Like Google Photos, unless you've intentionally set it up, you won't be able to get your files back.
Open the Google Drive app.
Swipe from left to right, and select Trash.
Look through the files listed for missing files.
If you see a file you wish to restore, select the 3-dot menufor that file.
Select Restore from the menu.
4. If My Files Couldn't Be Saved
We were unable to locate the file on your device, and all the backup resources that are available are either not in use, or do not contain the file.
The next option is professional data recovery. These services can be quite expensive, depending on how much data is lost, and how the data was lost in the first place.
If you intend to pursue professional data recovery services, it is extremely important you stop using your device, Shut it down, and do not turn it back on till after you have spoken with the professional data recovery service you have chosen.
Continuing to use the device in any way can destroy the data permanently, without any chance or hope of recovery.
You can restore recently deleted photos and videos that are still in your trash. Items that are permanently deleted can't be restored. Backed up photos and videos stay in your trash for 60 days.
You can also use the Files by Google app (the default file manager on Android) to find deleted items on your Android phone. In the app, tap the three horizontal lines (top left), then Trash. Files are kept for 30 days, and if you select a file, you'll see the Restore and Delete options become active at the bottom.
If you can't find a file on your computer or you accidently modified or deleted a file, you can restore it from a backup (if you're using Windows backup) or you can try to restore it from a previous version. Previous versions are copies of files and folders that Windows automatically saves as part of a restore point.
Important: If you delete Search history that's saved to your Google Account, you can't get it back. You can delete a specific activity, or delete your Search history from a specific day, a custom date range, or all time. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google app .
Open the Settings app on your Android device. Scroll down and tap on “System” or “System and Updates”. Tap on “Backup” or “Backup and Restore”. Select the backup file that contains the deleted files you want to recover.
Unlike computers, Android doesn't have a system-wide Recycle Bin. However, some individual apps, especially gallery apps, might offer a "Recently Deleted" folder where your photos and videos are stored for a set period before permanent deletion.
If you are an Android user and have created a backup of your long-term lost files on your cellphone, follow the below tips for help: For Android users: Go to "Settings" > Tab Back up & restore > Choose the latest backup files and click Restore from Backup to get all lost data restored.
