Primogems are one of the most important currencies in Genshin Impact as this currency allows you to roll on the banner you like, weapon, or character. Primogems are the hardest currency to farm in Genshin Impact as they come in really small amounts and not that all that common too. However, it's not impossible to save up a lot of primogems. It just takes time and a little bit of self-control.
Primogems are handed out by just about anything you do in this game. However, just as mentioned above, they come in really small quantities. Let's say around 5-20 depending on what you do.
The best way to farm Primogems is through the Spiral Abyss. The first parts of the Abyss will give you 100 primogems per star with a maximum of 3 per floor. The latter parts which are floors 9-12 gives you 50 primogems per star with a maximum of 3 per floor, but this resets every Abyssal Moon change so you'd have a chance to claim them once more.

Another method is through daily commissions. Finishing your daily commissions gives you about 60 primogems. Of course, events play a big part in the primogem economy as they also give a certain amount of primogem per event. Patch updates and maintenance also gives us primogems from the developers themselves.
The developers, miHoYo, usually send out these codes during their live streams. They also hand these out during certain events so keep an eye out for those! These are the only active codes for Genshin Impact right now. The rest are expired.
