How to be Aggressive in Soccer — Online Soccer Academy (2024)
Today we are learning how to be aggressive to the ball in soccer or just aggressive in general.
Don't get me wrong this video is not about teaching you how to punch players in the face or put in dirty tackles and hurt players. This video is not about that at all.
This Online Soccer Academy training video is about being competitive, being aggressive and wanting to win every time you step on the training or game field.
1. Believe 100% that when you go in for a tackle you will win the ball. Don't doubt yourself, or hope you win it or just stick your leg out there. Believe in your mind you will win it, have no doubt. If you lose the tackle, so what, react positive and hustle back on defense. But going into the tackle you always believe you are going to win it.
2. Be scared of no one on the field! When you step onto the field you are created equal to the players you are playing against. It's up to you to prove who had a better game by the end of it.
3. Reinforce positive thoughts in your mind through out training or in the game. Say things to yourself like "I am a winner", "I will win this tackle", "I am great player, I don't care who I am playing against".
There's no one exercise you can do to practice how to be aggressive to the ball. My advice is when you are training, train hard, push yourself and try to create that competitive attitude and desire to win that all great players seem to have.
When training by yourself maybe listen to some harder rock music or any type of music that gets you extra pumped up. Train like you have something to prove to all your doubters out there. This will help make you more aggressive.
Things to Note!
There's nothing wrong with being a competitor, playing the game to win and playing hard. You don't want to hurt any players, you don't want to play bad soccer in exchange for winning and you certainly don't want to be a poor sport if you lose but it's totally okay to want to win. You should want to have that competitive attitude on the field!
Bonus Tip!
You are the only one that controls your aggressive competitive mindset! I can't, your coach can't, your parents can't. We can all help motivate you, but ultimately it's up to you!

When the opposing team has the ball move with alertness and defending skills. This will bring out your aggression and will help you play soccer better. Make sure to tackle from the side or the front. It is not allowed to tackle the opponents from behind since it is very risky.
There are several ways you can train your aggression regularly. These range from taking cold showers and purposefully doing things that make you uncomfortable, to playing sports where you must defeat an opponent or team. Although these are all great ways to develop aggression, one method trumps them all: combat sports.
Aggression can be learned in the home, in the school, and from television programs. Children subjected over extended periods to repeated frustrations, rejection, and other aversive stimuli may eventually learn to strike back with aggression and perceive the world as a hostile place.
Another effective strategy is coming up with a “flip the switch” action which is going to allow the athlete to transition into their alter ego. Some examples our athletes have used have been physical gestures like clapping loudly, jumping high or adjusting a part of their uniform.
There are several keys to an effective attack, but the concept can be broken down into three simple ideas. Players must 1) penetrate 2) support and 3) make runs in order to maintain possession en route to scoring a goal.
