In this article, we will show you how to add a fillable table in Google Forms using the “Multiple Choice Grid” question type. Simply follow the process below.
While you can't create a fillable table in the traditional sense in google forms, you can use the the "Multiple Choice Grid" question type to create a similar functionality. Follow the simple process below.
1. Click the '+' Button to Add a New Question to Your Form
On the right side of your form, you'll see a vertical toolbar. Click on the '+' icon within this toolbar to add a new question block to your form.
2. Select "Multiple Choice Grid" as Your Question Type
In the newly added question block, locate the dropdown menu. This is labeled "Multiple choice" by default.
Click on it and choose "Multiple Choice Grid" from the list of question types. This will change the layout to a grid format, resembling a table.
3. Enter Items for Rows and Columns to Create a Table
Enter the options for respondents to choose from in the 'Rows' and 'Columns' text input fields.
For instance, you could list aspects like 'Customer Service' and 'Product Quality' in 'Rows', and satisfaction levels like 'Very Satisfied' to 'Unsatisfied' in 'Columns'.
4. Toggle "Require a Response in Each Row" if Necessary
Beneath the Rows and Columns input fields, you'll see an option labeled "Require a response in each row." If you want to ensure that respondents provide feedback for each service, like "Customer Service" and "Product Quality", check this option. If providing feedback for all items listed is optional, leave this unchecked.
5. Preview Your Form to Ensure the Table Works Correctly
To preview your form, click on the eye icon located at the top of the page. This will open your form in a new tab, allowing you to view it as a respondent would.
Check that your fillable table displays correctly and functions as intended.
6. Save Changes and Share Your Form with Respondents
Once you're satisfied with your form, click the "Send" button at the top right of the page.
