Does ProctorU watch your screen? ›

To supervise your exam, ProctorU records your activity through your screen, keyboard, webcam, audio and system activity. In order to ensure academic integrity and fairness to all, there is a requirement for the proctor to view the space you are taking the exam in.

Camera Pan: Your proctor will ask you to show the 4 walls of your room as well as your desk space via your webcam. You may or may not also be asked to show your computer monitor by using a mirror or cellphone camera. Lastly, your proctor will make sure your cell phone is out of reach.

The service employs AI and a live proctor to monitor and record a student's webcam and screen during a testing session, and notifies the instructor of any perceived academic dishonesty.

Actions and behaviors that will be flagged during an exam: Talking aloud: Unless you have an accommodation, talking or whispering aloud during the exam is not permitted. Being out of camera view: Your face, chin to forehead, needs to be in the camera view at all times.

While Proctorio doesn't directly detect phones, it has an array of tools to spot cheating: Visual and Audio Alerts: If a student tries to check their phone or plays information aloud, the webcam and microphone can identify these suspicious actions.

Bathroom breaks are not allowed in an online proctored delivery environment as you are not permitted to leave the room once testing begins. ProctorU allows drinks while testing. However, food is generally not permitted as it may cause unnecessary distractions and noise during the exam.

The screen recordings and webcam audio/video are accessible to the institution or organization for a period determined by the institution or organization but are automatically deleted, per NIST 800-88 guidelines, after one year, unless a shorter duration has been requested by your testing institution or organization.
