Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature. It is a multidisciplinary database, meaning that it delivers a comprehensive overview of the world's research output in many fields, including science, technology, medicine, social sciences, and arts and humanities.

Search Tips in Scopus
- loose phrase, use double quotation marks.
- “heart attack” will search for documents where heart and attack appear together.
- asterisk is a wildcard.

With Scopus you can search and filter results in the following ways:
- Document search: Search directly from the homepage and use detailed search options to ensure you find the document(s) you want.
- Author search: Search for a specific author by name or by Open Research and Contributor Identifier ID (ORCID)
Scopus will automatically search for some variations on words, such as plurals, e.g. criterion will find criteria. 'Stop words' such as 'the', 'his', 'because' are ignored, unless the phrase is enclosed in quotation marks "". Smart/curly-quote marks (“”) are ignored - you need to use standard quotation marks ("").
What are the search operators for Scopus? ›
You can use Boolean operators (AND, OR, AND NOT) in your search. If you use more than one operator in your search, Scopus interprets your search according to the order of precedence. You can also use proximity operators (pre/n, w/n) with Boolean operators.
