This article explains how to use WPA-PSK on NETGEAR wireless routers and access points.
WPA-PSKoffersbetter network security than WEP. Newer routers offer even stronger security protocols than WPA-PSK like WPA3and WPA2.NETGEAR recommends using WPA3 or WPA2 when they areavailable.

Note:
- You can enable only one security protocol (WEP, WPA, etc.) per wireless network at a time.
- You must configure your wireless clients, such as wireless computers, to use the same security protocol as the router or access point.
To enable theWPA-PSK protocol:
- Connect an Ethernet cable from your computer to any LAN portonyourNETGEAR router or access point.
- In a web browser, such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, enter the routeror access point's IP address in the address bar.
The defaultIP address is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. - Enterthe user nameand password.
The default user name is admin. The default password ispassword.
NETGEAR recommends changing the default password to increase the security of your network. - SelectWireless Settingsfrom theleft sidenavigation bar.
- Under Security Options, select WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key).
- InSecurity Encryption (WPA-PSK) > Passphrase, enter a passphrase.
The passphrase must be8 to 63 characters long.
Note: You must have the passphrase to connect to the wireless network. - Click Apply.
