Home and Contents Insurance offers peace of mind

Our Home and Contents Insurance covers not only your house, but the things that make it a home and what matters most to you. We help protect against damage and theft of your contents and you can extend your cover outside the home to include your personal items like; smartphones, handbags and jewellery with our "All Risks" cover option. We offer new customers who take out a Home and Contents policy the first 3 months* cover on their main residence free, giving you 12 months cover for the price of 9. This means that when you buy now, you don't pay until month 4 of your policy.

*If your policy start date is on or after 8 August 2023: This is an annual policy and if you are paying monthly you pay nothing for the first 3 months, and the remaining premium will be billed over the following 9 months. Or pay the premium in one payment and enjoy the same 25% reduction.

Ukraine Crisis

For existing customers that have generously welcomed people fleeing Ukraine into their homes, the following cover applies:

  • If a Ukrainian guest gets injured or hurt at the property the policyholder will be covered for any legal liability, and they don't need to do anything to activate this cover, it will automatically apply.
  • The Home Insurance cover will not be compromised in any way while doing this act of kindness, in fact we will increase the policyholder’s contents sums insured by €5,000 on all properties housing Ukrainian refugees regardless of whether any contents cover currently exists. The customer doesn’t need to do anything to activate this cover it will automatically apply. Find out more here.

Optional "All Risk" cover

Accidents happen. Everyone loses or damages important items when they're in or out of the home. With our optional extra "All Risks" Cover, we've two options available to you with our Home and Contents Insurance policies. Cover items you would use in your day-to-day life in just a few minutes.

Unspecified "All Risks" Cover

Umbrella-style cover that enables you to select an amount to cover your personal belongings should you lose them.

  • The maximum combined cost of all valuables
  • There's no need to list each item individually
  • Limits of cover up to €2,540 for any individual item
  • Bicycles up to a limit of €320 in any single period of insurance

Specified "All Risks" Cover

Cover that enables you to list items on your policy, specifying their value.

  • Covers items such as: jewellery, hearing aids, camera's and much more
  • No excess applies to this cover
  • You won't have to pay the first part of any claim you may make
  • Jewellery valued for more than 6,000 will require a valuation from a jeweller

Important Information

To qualify for 3 months free on your Home and Contents policy offer you must:
  • Not have an existing Home and Contents policy on your main residence with PTSB.
  • Satisfy our standard underwriting criteria.
  • Send payment instructions, where required, to PTSB within 21 days.
To obtain a quote you must meet the following criteria:
  • Only 1 previous claim, up to €15,000 in the last 3 years.
  • Your building must be built of brick, stone or concrete (timber frame with brick cladding ok) and roofed with slates, tiles, metal, concrete or asphalt (at least 70%).
  • You must not be located in an area of flood or subsidence. If so, visit branch for quote.
  • Property must be brick, stone or concrete.
  • Property must be at least 70% roofed with slates, tiles, metal, concrete or asphalt.
  • Your property cannot be a listed or graded building.
  • The property is not used for any business, trade or professional purpose.
  • Your property must be in a good state of repair and will be so maintained.
  • Your property must be less than 125 years old.

Premium reductions are applied on a reducing balance basis and are all subject to the following minimum premiums, inclusive of Government Levy, for Home and Contents policies: Buildings €135, Contents €105, and All Risks €12.60.

Please note that an excess will apply. This is the first amount of any loss that you are responsible for in the event of making a claim. The amount is deducted from the total claim settlement figure.
