Ausiello says the decision to do the guest appearance was probably not a hard call for Duff, as she and Ghost Whisperer star Jennifer Love Hewitt are good friends in real life. It remains to be seen if Hewitt's Ghost character Melinda is as fond of Duff's character – no doubt it might hinge on whether the former Lizzie McGuire is playing a murderer.
Duff is currently attached as the star of NBC's comedy project Barely Legal, based on the true story of an 18 year old attorney.
