Dodge very successfully ushered out the 2023 Charger and Challenger with its “Last Call” promotion, which evidently stirred the Mopar faithful into buying multiple special editions and performance-oriented models before the V-8 models exit production at the end of 2023.
Texas tuner John Hennessey thought up his own variation on the theme, called “Last Stand”: 1000 horsepower Hemi–powered versions of the SRT Challenger and Charger.
The cars are powered by tuned versions of the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V-8, which had a nine-year run at Dodge. “Comprehensive upgrades raise engine output to 1,000 horsepower — within striking distance of the [1025 horsepower] SRT Demon 170 — while running on pump-unleaded gasoline,” Hennessey says. Torque is 948 lb-ft.
Production is limited to 50 “exclusive examples” of the coupe and sedan, each of which also gets carbon-fiber upgrades, performance street wheels and tires, and unique badging.
Hennessey’s “expert technicians, who have been ‘making fast cars faster’ for more than 32 years,” fit the engine with a larger supercharger (non-Redeye models only), upgraded fuel injectors, a high-flow induction system, pulley upgrade, stainless-steel long tube headers, high-flow catalytic converters, and a crankcase ventilation system.
The Hennessey upgrades “enable both models to sprint to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, while a quarter mile is dispensed in 9.9 seconds at 141 mph.”
Hennessey H1000 Last Stand editions get a new carbon-fiber rear spoiler, front splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser. All have 20-inch alloy wheels that can be optioned with either a gloss black or graphite-colored finish, special heritage Last Stand graphics, and a plaque denoting the serial number for each of the 50 limited edition Challenger and Charger models.
The H1000 ‘Last Stand’ upgrade is available on 2021–23 Dodge SRT Challenger and Charger models. All upgrades are backed by Hennessey’s 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.
The price?
Prices, actually, which vary based on the donor vehicle (the standard Hellcat models have a smaller supercharger, so it must be upgraded). The customer supplies the donor vehicle. MSRP on the upgrades: Redeye, $54,950. Non-Redeye (“regular” SRT and Scat Pack), $64,950.
Sales require a $10,000 deposit.
