What to do if Google locks you out of your account? ›

Please note: Unfortunately, there is no way to recover the account if you cannot answer the security questions correctly or you don't have your phone number or recovery email linked to your account. You will need to create a new account.

If Google keeps signing you out when you'd rather stay logged in, here are a few tips: Make sure your cookies are turned on. Some antivirus or related software may delete your cookies. If your cookies are turned on, clear your browser's cache.

Account recovery requests can be delayed for a few hours or a number of days, depending on a variety of risk factors. For example, if you added more security to your account by setting up 2-Step Verification, your account recovery request might be delayed for longer.

For your security, you can't call Google for help to sign into your account. We don't work with any service that claims to provide account or password support. Do not give out your passwords or verification codes.

After you select Forgot password and enter your username, we offer you recovery options in order to access your account. If Google detects abnormal usage that may indicate that your account has been compromised, they may temporarily disable access. It'll take between one minute and 24 hours for access to be reinstated depending on the behavior detected by their system.

To fight spam, Google temporarily disables your account if it suspects or detects any unusual activity on your account: Sending many emails with a new Gmail or Google Workspace account.

From your Google Account, click “Security” and then “Recovery email” under “How you sign in with Google.” Follow the steps on the screen. A recovery email address helps you get back in and is where we send you security notifications.

You can unlock your Gmail account by recovering the username or resetting the account password. But before that, you have to set up a secondary recovery email address or a phone number which Google can use to verify your identity. The secondary email address doesn't necessarily have to be on Gmail.

Sorry, there's no way to do that. Depending on the situation, and how suspicious the account activity is, Google may delay from a few hours to a month.

Google Accounts are usually disabled if the account's owner hasn't followed our Terms or Service or other products' policies. When your Google Account is disabled, you won't be able to sign in to Google services or use Sign in with Google. You'll get an error message instead, or be directed to this help article.
