Most of the upgrades and skills that players can unlock while playing through God of War Ragnarok's Valhalla DLC are only temporary, though there are ways to permanently increase Kratos' stats over time. Doing so can make runs considerably easier in the long run and will be vital for those hoping to unlock Valhalla's many secrets.

Maxing out every stat should be the end goal here, but to begin with, most players will want to start by increasing Kratos' maximum HP. Thankfully, getting more health in God of War Ragnarok's Valhalla DLC is actually relatively straightforward once players know how it's done. Of course, they'll need to grind an awful lot of resources to max out everything.
How to Permanently Increase Stats in God of War Ragnarok Valhalla
After completing their first failed run and sitting through the tutorial, players will start to earn Mastery Seals as they make their way through Valhalla and complete Mastery and Adaptability tasks. Unlike Fleeting Echoes (which, as the name suggests, are temporary), Mastery Seals will remain with Kratos even after a run comes to an end. Unfortunately, they can't be spent within Valhalla itself, but players will be able to use them between runs.
After finishing their second run, players will once again be returned to The Shore, where they'll find a few new things waiting for them. The Labour Marker can be used to accept new Labours and redeem rewards from those that have already been completed, while the Appearance Pedestal can be used to alter Kratos' appearance. However, to permanently increase Kratos' health and other stats, players will want to look for the Tablet of Reflection, which is a stone tablet with a red Omega symbol at the top.
By interacting with the tablet, players will be able to use their Mastery Seals to permanently increase Kratos' Health, Rage, Strength, Defence, Runic, Vitality, and Cooldown. Each one can be increased multiple times, with the cost of doing so increasing after each upgrade. It's a good idea to start by boosting Kratos' Health, Strength, and Defence; particularly when playing through the DLC on harder difficulty settings, as these are the ones that tend to benefit players the most. Ultimately, though, it's up to the player to decide which stats they should prioritize based on their own playing style.
As they begin to venture deeper into Valhalla, players will unlock a few new options at the Tablet of Reflection; these being Critical Health Regen, Health Looter, and Starting Resurrection Stone.
