Is gilded altar or Chaos Altar better? ›

Players who seek to save money are advised to offer bones at the Chaos altar in the Wilderness instead, as this is only slightly slower but offers twice as much experience per bone when compared to the gilded altar. Building a gilded altar requires level 75 Construction, which can be boosted.

The gilded altar is the best altar which can be built in the chapel of a player-owned house. It requires level 75 Construction to build and uses 2 marble blocks, 2 bolts of cloth and 4 gold leaves to build.

When offering bones on the altar, and both burners are lit, you will receive a game message in the chat interface saying, "The gods are very pleased with your offering". In contrast, when both burners are not lit, it says "The gods are pleased with your offering", omitting the word "very".

To build a Gilded altar in the chapel room of the player owned house, the player needs 75 Construction, two Marble blocks, four Gold leaves, and two Bolts of cloth. Total store cost to build a Gilded Altar is: 1,171,300 coins.

Worshiping the Ectofuntus gives 400% the normal experience. Although this is the highest guaranteed per-bone prayer bonus in the game, this is much less than the 700% theoretical average bonus at the Chaos Altar. This is due to the 50% chance of the Chaos Altar not consuming bones.

They can be scattered for 62.5 Prayer experience, taken to the Ectofuntus for 250 Prayer experience or used at a POH gilded altar with both incense burners lit for 218.7 Prayer experience.

Prayer is a slow skill to train for ironmen due to having to obtain every bone. Ideally, it is best to use every bone on an experience boosting altar, such as the Chaos Altar, Ectofuntus, or with high Construction, a gilded altar in the chapel of your player-owned house.

The player does not manually use bones on the altar (which increases experience per hour) but rather the bones are automatically used on the altar. If the player uses another bone on the gilded altar right after it is automatically used, the experience per hour can be increased by up to 51%.

On the house party world (330) in Yanille, some players will keep their houses open to other players for fun and to offer various services, such as providing a gilded altar. They may also have their dungeon within their house open for player versus player fighting along with other monsters.

The Chaos Altar provides Prayer XP per bone equal to the Gilded Altar, however it has a 50% chance to not consume the bone when offered. This results in an average increase of 100% XP, which when multiplied with the experience multiplier of 3.5 the Chaos Altar results in an average of 700% experience per bone.

Currently, the fastest way to get there is to use the Wicked hood's teleport, which can only be used 2 times daily, or 3 if all the Wicked robes have been purchased from the Runespan. The second fastest way is to break a chaos altar teleport tablet. Both of these methods teleport the player just outside of the altar.
