Our Mission Adoption Policy FAQs

Our Mission

Founded in 2002, Animal House Shelter is a non-profit, 501(c)3, no kill shelter that rescues, rehabilitates and adopts out all breeds of dogs and cats. We fully vet every animal that we rescue before they are adopted, including spay/neuter, all vaccines and boosters, heartgard, frontline, dewormings and microchip.
We take in dogs and cats that have been abused, neglected, abandoned. There are a variety of other reasons people relinquish their dog or cat to us as well: lack of time, moving, allergies, new baby etc. We save those scheduled for euthanasia at other shelters due to their lack of space. Once rehabilitated and ready, they are carefully matched with prospective adopters and placed in loving homes. Over 63,000 pets have been adopted from Animal House Shelter.

Adoption Policy

All adoption donations MUST be in cash, money order, traveler’s check, cashier’s check or by VISA, DISCOVER, MASTERCARD, or AMERICAN EXPRESS credit card only. NO PERSONAL CHECKS PLEASE.
You must be at least 21 years old to adopt.
All members of the household must be present, including any other dogs you may currently own, in order to do a final adoption (cats do not have to come to the shelter. We will cat test here because we know how stressful it is on the cats to be transported).
Dogs and cats that you currently own must be current on distemper & rabies vaccinations prior to visiting the shelter or any adoption.
Fill out the Online Application and submit.
We do not allow anyone to put a pet “on hold”, no exceptions.
Adoption Donations for dogs & puppies ranges from $75-$700 (each individual profile will state the adoption donation)
Adoption Donations for cats & kittens ranges from $50-$300 (each individual profile will state the adoption donation)
At time of adoption an adoption counselor will take you through the process and answer any questions you may have, as well as ask you questions regarding the adoption.
We have adoption hours 11am-7pm Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sun. Sat our adoption hours are from 9am-7pm. We are open 365 days a year (including all Holidays). We are currently open by apppointment only, with an approved application on file.

We microchip, spay/neuter, heartworm test or FeLV/FIV test and give vaccinations to all animals. They are also all on Heartgard Plus & Frontline Plus every month while in our care.
We do require that when you adopt one of our cats/kittens that they are taken home in an appropriate carrier. You can bring in your own carrier or we can supply you with a cardboard carrier for $10.
Please Remember, all other dogs and family members must be present at the shelter for any final adoption.
The website www.animalhouseshelter.com is always kept 100% up to date with who is currently available. As soon as they are adopted, they are moved to the Adopted Pets page so if they are still listed on the Adoptable Dogs page, they are still available. So keep any eye on the site for any animals being added as available for adoption as new animals are added everyday!
We recommend if you haven’t done so already that you submit a general online adoption application with us so it is on file for when you are ready to come out and adopt. The adoption counselors will be able to show you many that would be a good fit for your family. So it is always best that you get your general application for any dog or cat in with us as soon as possible.
