GAD1/GAD67

Glutamate decarboxylase 1 (brain, 67kDa) (GAD67), also known as GAD1 is a human gene encodes one of several forms of glutamic acid decarboxylase, identified as a major autoantigen in insulin-dependent diabetes. GAD67 is considered an excellent marker for GABAergic neurons.

GAD2/GAD65

GAD2 encodes the islet cell specific (65 kDa) form of glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD65), a prevalent autoantigen in T1D. GAD65 appears to be localized in nerve terminals and responds to short-term changes in demand for transmitter GABA. GAD65 is considered an excellent marker for GABAergic neurons.

GABAB receptor1

GABAB receptors (GABABR) are broadly expressed in the nervous system and play an important role in neuronal excitability. GABAB receptors are G protein-coupled receptors that mediate slow and prolonged inhibitory action, via activation of Gαi/o-type proteins. In the brain, GABAB receptors are located both pre- and postsynaptically. Activation of presynaptic GABAB receptors inhibits neurotransmitter release from presynaptic terminals. There are two subunits of the receptor, GABAB1 and GABAB2, and these appear to assemble as heterodimers in neuronal membranes by linking up by their intracellular C termini.
