Are reusable bags better than plastic bags? ReadingFour different ways you can use a conditioner bar5 minutes Next In Your Face – face cleanser for oily skin recipe
There’s nothing quite like finding a multi-use product hack! It’s an absolute winner for helping you get more bang for your buck while also helping to cut down on the accumulation of too much stuff (and the resources required to make them).
If you’ve recently made the switch to #giveupthebottle and try out one of our conditioner bars, you’re in luck - here are five different ways you can use our conditioner bars!
Hack #1: Use your Ethique conditioner bar as a shaving bar
Our Wonderbar conditioner really lives up to its name - it's a multi-use, long-lasting conditioner that's packed full of nourishing ingredients like coconut oil, cocoa butter and vitamin B5.
Lucky for us, Wonderbar’s formulation also means that you can use it as a shaving bar! Using our conditioner barsas a shaving bar is great for sensitive skin and leaves skin feeling smooth and hydrated.
How to use our conditioner barsas a shaving bar:
Wet the bar and area of skin you want to shave.
Apply bar directly onto the area – a little goes a long way.
Work the product in with your hands.
Shave. Easy!
The great news is that you can use any of our conditioner bars for shaving. Though do be aware that they won’t create a soapy, bubbly lather as our conditioner bars don’t contain any surfactants (foaming ingredients).
If you prefer a foamy shaving bar instead, try out our Tip-to-Toe shampoo, shave bar and body wash bar.
Hack #2: Use your Ethique conditioner bar as an in-shower body moisturiser
Much like the power-packed hydration and silky-smooth feeling that our conditioner bars provide for your hair, they also offer the same benefits when used as an in-shower body moisturiser.
How to use our conditioner bars as an in-shower moisturiser:
Wet the bar and area of skin you want to moisturise while you’re in the shower.
Apply the bar directly onto the area – a little goes a long way. No really, start off with less product than you think you’ll need!
Work the product in with your hands.
Rinse off thoroughly and feel the silky-smooth magic.
Top tip: take extra care when using our conditioner bars as in-shower body moisturisers as this will make your shower floor slippery.
Hack #3: Use your Ethique conditioner bar as a leave-in conditioner
If you’re after a product that can be left in your hair to allow for conditioning after a shower, look no further than our conditioner bars.
Great for very dry, curly or thick hair, a leave-in conditioner can help with detangling, styling, moisturising and give you overall shiny glossy hair.
How to use our conditioner bars as a leave-in conditioner
Once your hair is wet, shampooed, conditioned and you are nearly ready to step out of the shower, grab your conditioner bar and wet it.
Slide it briefly down your ends once or twice -use less than you think you’ll need as it’s highly concentrated!
Gently massage the product into your hair with very wet hands. Using a bit of water is key to this working beautifully as our conditioner bars are water-free.
Step out of the shower and dry your hair as normal.
Top tip: Use much less product than you think you will need as a little bit really does go a long way.
Hack #4: Use your Ethique conditioner bar as a hair mask or deep treatment
Treat your hair to a weekly hair mask or deep treatment and you just might shock yourself at how lush it leaves your hair looking & feeling!

Saturate your hair – again, the wetter the better!
Wet your conditioner bar.
Slide the wet bar from root to tip, making sure you have a generous amount of product in your hair.
Using wet hands, massage the conditioner into your hair. Now’s the best time to focus the product on those drier ends.
Time to leave the product in to work its magic! Pop a silk cap on or leave as is and just let it penetrate the hair shaft for an hour or two at most.
Rinse off with lots of warm water before you go to bed and wake up to gorgeous shiny, soft hair.
There you have it – five different ways you can use one Ethique conditioner bar! With each bar being the equivalent of five bottles (or nine in the case of our Curliosity conditioner) of liquid conditioner , you really can't go wrong with our solid blocks of goodness.

Simply wet your hair then wet the bar. For shorter hair, you can lather the shampoo bar in your hands until you have enough lather, set the bar down, and apply the lather to your hair. Proceed to massage through your hair like you normally would. Rinse out the lather and proceed to conditioner bar.

Use as a conditioner: After shampooing, swipe the conditioner bar 4-5 times down the length of your hair. Put the bar down, and massage the product into your locks. Leave in for 1-2 minutes for everyday hydration, or leave in for 10 minutes for a deep treatment.

Pour aloe vera gel, water, and vanilla extract into a spray bottle and mix. Add sweet almond oil and the coconut oil and honey mixture to the spray bottle. Mix again. Your leave-in conditioner is now ready to use.
Use as a Daily Conditioner: Glide the bar over your wet hair and massage in. Leave it on your hair for 1-3 minutes then rinse well. Allow the bar to dry between uses. Use as a Leave-In Conditioner: Wet bar and massage a small amount onto your fingertips.
Conditioner bars are better than liquid conditioners: for both your hair, and the environment. A conditioner bar doesn't need any plastic packaging, and is also waterless – so you don't need to worry about creating waste. Because conditioner bars are just concentrated product, you also get more for your money.
APPLY the conditioner bar directly onto your freshly washed, rinsed and dripping wet hair where you would like a conditioning, softening, detangling, and moisturizing effect. For hair that is weighed down easily, try to apply the conditioner BEFORE washing on your wet hair, then rinse out and wash.
Pop the bar down, then gently massage it around into your hair, with really wet hands. Using a bit of water is key to this working beautifully as Curliosity is of course, water-free. Step out of the shower, dry your hair as normal and voila – leave-in conditioner.
Our natural shampoo bars will not strip the natural oils from your hair, so you will not need the typical moisturizing conditioners that people use to replace the natural oils stripped by detergent shampoos.
Simply wet your skin and the bar, lather up, and apply to the area you wish to shave. The conditioner will provide a slick surface, allowing your razor to glide smoothly over your skin. To get the best results, it's important to choose a conditioner bar that is formulated specifically for shaving.
Lather the bar between your hands, creating a cloud of foam. Rub the bubbles into the lengths of your hair and massage into your scalp. Breathe deeply, taking in the comforting natural aroma. When you're done, rinse thoroughly to remove all the suds.
The softening agents in your conditioner work quite well on fabrics as well. On days when you run out of fabric softeners replace it with your conditioner and get similar results. It can also be used to delicately wash your lacy lingerie without making them stiff.
A body conditioner protects the skin the same way conditioners protect your hair. It applies a thin layer of oil to coat the top layer of the skin so that the skin is not a dry feeling when getting out of the shower. The concept of a conditioner can be applied before the bath or after soap has been applied to the body.
Natural ingredients like coconut oil, olive oil, avocado, shea butter, aloe vera, honey, and yogurt make excellent homemade hair conditioners. These ingredients provide nourishment, hydration, and repair to your hair.
Drew Westervelt, CEO of laundry detergent company HEX Performance, explains that conditioner can help relax fabric that has contracted or shrunk due to high heat. "By adding a conditioner, you're softening and lubricating the fibers to loosen them back up so you can stretch them," he says.
