What is the advantage of bleaching the dollar bill over just printing the higher-denomination bill onto clean paper?
- Why has it been necessary to make so many changes to our paper currency in the past 30 years as compared to the last 100 years?
- Of all the safeguards added to our higher-denomination currency, which do you consider the most important and why?Counterfeiters try to pass off their counterfeit money at public events where many people gather. Provide a list of four items to check that will quickly and easily tell you whether a new $10 bill is authentic.
The Redesign
Counterfeiting has become a major business in the US, but also in many other countries. Due to this fact, the US is constantly changing the security features in US currency. The US Department of Treasury has come to you and asked you to redesign a bill of your choice ($5, $10, $20 or $100) Research the different security features and characteristics of currency throughout the world and create a design for the new bill. You will create a presentation (electronic or hard copy) to include the following:
- A description of the bill that you will be creating, with detailed dimensions.
- What your bill will be made out of
- The design of the bill
- The security features of the bill
- Explanation of the symbolism on the bill
- A model of the bill
- Logical reasoning as to why your bill should be chosen as compared to other bills, including the current bill
