Step 5: Download voice directions.
Sometimes voice directions aren’t downloaded or must be updated on your phone or tablet. When this happens, you’ll hear a chime instead of voice directions.
Make sure you're connected to the internet. If you have a strong internet connection, voice directions will download faster.

Tap the sound/speaker icon that appears on the right of the screen to make sure it's not muted. Ensure your phone's volume is also turned up. If there's still no audio feedback, return to the Google Maps home screen.
