Since we are filing jointly not separate, do we both need to login into our separate Turbo Tax accounts and file separately, but choose "jointly"?In other words, do we both pay the Deluxe plan fee? Or are we just supposed to fill this out once and add all our information in here just once? We are confused how this works? We do not want to duplicate this process if not needed. Thanks!

First time filing married - jointly
When you file a joint return as a married couple, you prepare ONE return that has ALL of your personal, income, and credit and deduction information on that ONE return.
When you enter your own information in Personal Info, you have to answer the question "Were you married?" If you click the button for Married, then a drop down will appear that asks, "Do you want to file this return together with your spouse?" Then you choose yes to file a joint return. You would then enter your spouse's information into Personal Info. Whenever you are entering income information there should then be a spot for you and for your spouse's income information.
Note:To begin a new joint return on TurboTax:
You will not be able to merge two previous TT account to start your new joint return. You can import ONE of your 2014 returns into a new return, so choose the most complicated one. The other spouse’s information need to be entered manually.

This situation is probably not uncommon.Any chance that TurboTax for 2016 might make it possible to pull in information from two single filersin 2015 into a married filing jointly return for 2016?

The software does not accommodate merging two accounts.Sorry.I do not know anything about the technology involved; it just does not.If they ever develop a way to merge two accounts, there would be some happier filers.

The same place as you enter yours ... ADD A W-2 when prompted ... make sure you have completed the personal info section first to add the spouse to the return ...

My husband filed for his tax return jointly last night. But didn’t include my income information and w2. What should I do? Can I still fix or edit it? He already paid for it last night so I don’t know if it’s already filed.which section can I put my income and w2 information there?

If your husband has already filed a "joint return" (Married Filing Jointly) and omitted your income information, you will have to amend that joint return.
How do I amend my 2019 return?
The program will notify him by email of the status of the return (Filed, Pending, Accepted, Rejected). If it was rejected for some reason, you will have the opportunity to correct it to add your income. If it was accepted, you will have to amend to add your income information.
Follow the program's guided interviews to enter your "income and W-2" information. For example, Form W-2 is entered in the Wages and Salaries interview of Personal Income > Wages and Salaries (W2).

First time filing married - jointly
My spouse and I were married in 2021, and will be filing jointly for our 2021 tax returns. When finishing up our taxes, the software asks us to input information from last year's NY state tax return. There is only one entry spot, not one for each of us. Do we enter the combined number from both of our separate returns in 2020 when we were not yet married?

Depends. What is the entry you are being asked for? Were you both New York residents all year in 2021?
If you can give more details, we will try to help.

Hi,
my wife and filed jointly last year for the first time on her account. This year I started our joint return on my account but it is saying our AGI for last year is $0. How do I correct this and add in our old information?
