Ways to find the IMEI, MEID, model number, or serial number

Navigate to Settings and then tap About phone. Step 2. Details about your phone number, IMEI, model number and serial number will be displayed on-screen. Note: For lower version devices, you may need to tap Status to view this information.

Service providers can use the IMEI to block a stolen phone from cellular networks, and many police departments keep a record of stolen phones using this number. You can find your IMEI number by dialling *#06# in the Phone app.

Every smartphone is assigned a unique number called an IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity), and you can use your IMEI to identify what make and model your phone is.

Just go to Google Settings, sign-in with your Google account and expand the Android tab. Here you will see of all Android devices that are connected to your Google Account and it will list the IMEI number of your phone as well. In the case of iPhone, the IMEI number is printed on the box itself.

If the device is not compatible with cellular service, there will be no IMEI number listed. As in, if the device is Wi-Fi only, you will only see the serial number. This means your tablet is Wi-Fi only and would not have an IMEI number. That just means you would not be able to put this on a cell phone plan.

No, IMEI is not the same thing as a SIM card but it is tied to the device. Each device has a SIM and an IMEI. The SIM is associated with the network, whereas the IMEI is associated with the device. The SIM is identified by the Integrated Circuit Card Identification (ICCID) number.

Depending on the carrier, your device will have either an IMEI or MEID. These two numbers are different from a serial number. They are used at an international or global level, not just by manufacturers. Both types of numbers can help network providers track down a device that has been stolen or lost.

Similarly, the international mobile equipment identity (IMEI) number is different from both the serial and model numbers. It's another uniquely identifying number (i.e. each individual device has a different IMEI), and in its case, it's used by networks (and even law enforcement) to identify individual phones.
