The City of Sedona is served by three transit services. This FAQ provides information about each of them:

What is Sedona Shuttle Connect?

Sedona Shuttle Connect is on-demand public transit that comes to you and takes you to destinations thoughout a defined service area which includes most of Sedona. Rides are requested using the TransLoc app or by calling Sedona Shuttle Connect Dispatch at 928.203.5152.

Where does Sedona Shuttle Connect go?

Sedona Shuttle Connect provides rides to and from locations within the defined service area shown on the map below. The TransLoc app will tell you if you and your destination are within the service area.

The TransLoc App will tell you if your origin and destination are within the Sedona Shuttle Connect service area.

PLEASE NOTE: Uptown Sedona, the Los Abrigados area and Hillside Shopping Center have designated pickup locations. You must book your trip from the pickup location shown on the map by zooming in on the map to the pickup point and selecting that as your origin. Then go to the signed pickup point to catch the shuttle.

When does Sedona Shuttle Connect Run?

How do I request a ride?

The best way to request a ride is by using the TransLoc App. You can download the app from the App Store or Google Play. The app will allow you to request a ride, pay for your ride, and track your vehicle’s arrival.

If you prefer, you can call Sedona Shuttle Dispatch at 928-203-5152 to request a ride, and pay for your trip with exact cash.

How do I use the TransLoc App to request a ride on Sedona Shuttle Connect?

1. Download the TransLoc app from Google Play or the App Store.
2. Open the app.
3. Under Settings: Share your location.
4. Select “Sedona – On Demand” as your service. Be sure to turn on the Visible Alerts function before exiting the settings screen.
5. Choose OnDemand at the bottom of the screen.
6. Indicate your origin and destination by typing in the window or selecting on the map. Unless you indicate otherwise, TransLoc will use your current location as your origin. PLEASE NOTE: Uptown Sedona, Los Abrigados area, and Hillside Shopping Center have designated pickup locations. You must book your trip from the pickup location shown on the map by zooming in on the map to the pickup point and selecting that as your origin. Then go to the signed pickup point to catch the shuttle.
7. Indicate the number of riders in your group and if any of them are using a wheelchair or will be bringing a bike along.
8. The TransLoc app is linked with Token Transit, so you can pay your fare right from the app. You’ll need to create a login and input payment info. You’ll only have to do this once.

Can I book a ride in advance?

You can book a Sedona Shuttle Connect ride up to 14 days in advance.

How much does a ride cost on Sedona Shuttle Connect?

Sedona Shuttle Connect has a flat low fare of $2.00 per rider anywhere within the service area.

A $1.00 discounted ride is available for qualified persons including:

• Seniors 60+
• Persons with Disabilities
• Veterans with ID
• Medicare Cardholders
• ACCCHS Cardholders

Children 5 and under ride free with an adult.

How do I pay my fare on Sedona Shuttle Connect?

There are two ways to pay your fare. After you have entered your origin and destination in the TranLoc app, the app will notify you that a fare is required. You will be provided with two options:

View Token Transit Fares: Click on this link and you will be given the option to download the token transit app. Once downloaded, you will be provided with step-by-step instructions to set up an account with Token Transit, (this is a one-time process), and purchase your digital passes which will be downloaded to your mobile device. When you are ready to board the vehicle, activate your pass on your device, and show the driver your digital pass.

Book Trip: Click on this link if you want to pay your fare on the vehicle, you will be required to deposit your cash fare in the fare box upon boarding the vehicle. The Driver cannot make change, so be sure to bring the required cash and coin to avoid overpaying.

Can I activate multiple passes on my phone so that I can show the driver that all passengers in my party have a valid pass?

Yes. Simply buy the number of adult passes needed for your party. Just prior to boarding the vehicle – activate all of the passes you intend to use for your trip by selecting “Tap to use this pass” on each of the digital passes. Open any one of the passes and show the driver the digital pass – the number of tickets purchased will be displayed on the screen (see image). Note, this same process will work for Discounted Rides, however you will have to show the driver one of the activated discounted passes separately to display the quantity of discounted tickets that you purchased for your party:

Can I buy a Sedona Shuttle Connect Ticket for someone else?

Token Transit allows you to easily buy digital Sedona Shuttle tickets and send them to any rider with a smartphone.

• To start, go to https://tokentransit.com/send.
• Search for and select Sedona Shuttle Connect.
• Enter the rider’s email and your email (to receive a receipt).
• Select the type of transit pass and add it to the cart. You can send multiple passes at once.
• Enter your payment information.
• The rider will receive an email with instructions on how to redeem their pass on their mobile device.
• If the rider doesn’t have access to email, they can enter the 8-digit code on the confirmation page into the app under “Redeem Code.”

Are Sedona Shuttle Connect vehicles wheelchair accessible?

Yes, like all Sedona Shuttle vehicles, our on-demand vehicles can accomodate up to two wheelchairs. The app allows the rider to indicate if they will be boarding in a wheelchair.

Do Sedona Shuttle vehicles have bike racks?

Each Sedona Shuttle Connect vehicle can accomodate up to two bikes on interior mounted bike racks.

Motorized Bicycles with gasoline powered engines of any kind are strictly prohibited!

How many people can the shuttle carry?

Each shuttle bus can accommodate 14 seated passengers or 10 seated passengers and two riders in wheelchairs.

Does Sedona Shuttle Connect allow walk-ons?

Yes, you are allowed to board a nearby Sedona Shuttle Connect vehicle without making a reservation through the app or the dispatch office. Just tell the driver where you want to go. However your destination must be within the Sedona Shuttle Connect service area and you must pay the fare in exact cash.

Can I bring my dog onto the bus?

Where do you catch the Shuttles?

The shuttles pick up from three park and ride lots:

• North SR 179 Park &Ride, 1294 SR 179 with service to:
  • Cathedral Rock Trailhead
  • Little Horse Trailhead
• Posse Grounds Park & Ride, 20 Carruth Dr. (in West Sedona), with service to:
  • Soldier Pass Trailhead
  • Dry Creek Trailhead
• West SR 89-A Park & Ride, 905 Upper Red Rock Loop Road
  • Mescal Trailhead
  • Dry Creek Trailhead

Notes:

1. For your safety shuttles pick up at designated bus stops only.
2. RVs, campers, and buses are prohibited from parking in the shuttle Park & Ride lots.
3. NO OVERNIGHT PARKING

You can use Sedona Shuttle Connect to get to the Park & Ride Lot

Sedona Shuttle Connect runs one-half hour before and after the Trailhead Shuttle hours. For just $2 per ride, you can be picked up at your home or hotel and taken to any of the three Trailhead Shuttle pickup points.

You can ride the Verde Shuttle to two of our Park & Ride lots

You can use the Verde Shuttle to get from Cottonwood or Sedona to the Sedona Shuttle park and ride lots on SR 179 and 89A. From there you can take the Sedona Shuttle to Cathedral Rock, Little Horse, Mescal, and Dry Creek Vista Trailheads where you can hike some of Sedona’s favorite trails.

To get to the Park & Ride lot on 179A, just get off and on the Verde Shuttle at one of these stops:

• Southbound (from Uptown) – Use the Verde Shuttle stop on US 179 north of Arrow Drive
• Northbound (towards Uptown) – Use the Verde Shuttle stop on US 179 just south of Morgan Road

To get to the Park & Ride lot on 89A, just get off and on the Verde Shuttle at one of these stops:

• Westbound (from Sedona) – Use the Verde Shuttle stop on 89A at Upper Red Rock Loop Road (by the Courtyard Marriott)
• Eastbound (to Sedona) – Use the Verde Shuttle stop on 89A at Cultural Park Place (by Yavapai College)

How many vehicles will be able to park at each park and ridelot?

• North SR 179 Park & Ride – 65 vehicles
• Posse Grounds Park & Ride – 260 vehicles
• West SR 89A Park & Ride – 91 vehicles

Are the parking and shuttles really free?

YES! Both parking at the Park & Ride lots and the shuttle rides are free.

Is a Red Rock Pass required for shuttle riders at the trailhead?

No. Shuttle riders will not be charged a parking fee at the trailhead.

How many people can the shuttle carry?

Each shuttle bus can accommodate 20 seated passengers or 16 seated passengers and two riders in wheelchairs.

Are the shuttles accessible to persons in wheelchairs?

Yes, shuttles can accommodate up to two wheelchairs.

Can the shuttles carry bicycles?

Each shuttle bus is equipped with a bike rack, on the front of the bus, which holds up to three bicycles. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If there is room in the vehicle, additional bikes may be accommodated in the wheelchair positions inside the bus.

Bicycles (including E-bikes) must weigh LESS than 55 lbs. E-bikes must be powered down before being transported by the service.

Do the Park & Ride lots and bus stops at trailheads have restrooms and trash facilities?

Yes, all pickup and drop-off locations have restroom facilities and trash receptacles.

Why is there such infrequent shuttle service to Soldier Pass trailhead?

The shuttle system was established to mitigate the parking problems at our most heavily visited trailheads and the related public safety impacts within the adjacent neighborhoods. The trailheads are located on US Forest Service (USFS) Federal land and as such the city of Sedona was required to obtain a special use permit from the USFS to allow its shuttles to access these trailheads. As a condition of that permit, the city is restricted to daily quotas limiting the number of passengers that the shuttle system can carry to each permitted trailhead. The USFS required this restriction in the interest of placing limitations on the level of human visitation to these environmentally fragile wilderness areas. The Line 14 (Soldier Pass) is restricted to transporting only 300 passengers to that location per service day, which drives the frequency of service on that route.

Parking Restrictions at Trailheads

Cathedral Rock Trailhead: The parking lot(s) located at the Cathedral Rock Trailhead will be closed to the general public whenever the shuttle is operating and will reopen after the shuttles go out of service.

The USFS has not established specific hours for access to the Cathedral Rock trailhead, however, overnight camping is not allowed at this location.

Soldier’s Pass Trailhead: The USFS parking lot located at the Soldier’s Pass trailhead will be closed to the general public whenever the shuttle is operating.

Note: Per U.S. Forest Service regulations, both the trailhead and parking lot at Soldier’s Pass are ALWAYS closed between 6 p.m.-8 a.m.

Soldier’s Pass Trailhead Parking Lot Gate Hours:

Note: Shuttles run year-round, Thursday thru Sunday. However, Shuttles will run EVERY DAY during Spring Break (Feb 27 – Apr 20, 2025), and during select holidays. (Click here for Holiday and Supplemental Service Calendar).

The parking restrictions noted above shall go into effect at both of these locations whenever the shuttle system is operating.

Little Horse Trailhead: Little Horse Trailhead Parking IS NOT to be used as an overflow parking lot for the Cathedral Rock trailhead.

Sedona Shuttle Holiday and Supplemental Service Calendar

During the Spring Break season (February 27-April 20) Sedona Shuttle and Sedona Shuttle Connect with operate daily.

Sedona Shuttle services also run on select holidays. Here is the schedule of holiday and supplemental services for the coming year:

During days and hours when the shuttles are running, the parking lots at the Cathedral Rock and Soldier Pass Trailheads will be closed. All visitors are asked to use the shuttle to access these trailheads. Outside of shuttle hours, the Cathedral Rock trailhead parking will be open. Parking at all other trailheads will be open as determined by the National Forest Service.

Sedona Shuttle Animal Policy

Service Animals: In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the City of Sedona permitsservice animals to accompany individuals with disabilities onto the Sedona Shuttle. Service animals are defined as “any guide dog, signal dog, or other animal individually trained to work or perform observable tasks for an individual with a disability.”

Pets: All pets shall be transported in a pet carrier or other vessel that is suited to properly contain the animal, with the following exception:

DOGS (non-service animals) are allowed onto the service in either an appropriate carrier or with a muzzle and the animal must be on a leash. Dog muzzles[1] or masks must be properly fitted to fit over the snout to prevent the animal from biting other animals or humans.

Pets must remain under the owner’s control at all times and shall not be left unattended. Pets shall not block the aisleway or passenger doors.

Verde Shuttle

What is the Verde Shuttle?

The Verde Shuttle is a fixed -oute bus service connecting Sedona and Cottonwood. It is operated by the City of Cottonwood in collaboration with the City of Sedona.

Where can I go on the Verde Shuttle and where do I catch it?

The Verde Shuttle serves bus stops along SR 179 and SR 89A – including Poco Diablo, Hillside, Tlaquepaque, Uptown and throughout West Sedona. It serves the Trailhead Shuttle Park & Ride lots on SR 179 and West SR 89A. It then continues to the Cottonwood Library where it connects with local Cottonwood Area Transit routes.

All Verde Shuttle stops are signed and many have shelters. The map below shows all bus stop locations within Sedona.

When does the Verde Shuttle run?

The Verde Shuttle runs 7-days a week. Buses operate hourly from 6 AM to 10 PM. The last bus leaves Uptown Sedona to return to Cottonwood at 10 PM each evening.

How much does the Verde Shuttle cost?

Within Sedona, Verde Shuttle rides are $1.00 per boarding. For trips between Sedona and Cottonwood, the fare is $2.00 per ride. Seniors, students and veterans pay half fare. Exact fare is required.
