Fallout 76 Steel Dawn's Over And Out Choice Explained (2024)

Fallout 76's Steel Dawn expansion has a surprisingly difficult decision to make at the end of it. Should the Brotherhood of Steel reach out to the other survivors, or should it remain the insular group of techno-hoarders that protect pre-war technology to prevent a second Armageddon? Should you side with Knight Shin or Paladin Rahmani in the Over And Out mission?

It's a big decision. After several Brotherhood of Steel quests leading you up to this point, you're finally forced to choose between the old order of the Brotherhood of Steel or the birth of a brand-new faction. What should you choose, and what happens? We'll go over all of that right here.

The agonizing moment when you finally decide whether you want to side with Rahmani or Shin will be a bit easier with this guide.

What's Happening During Fallout 76's Over And Out Mission?

You are working alongside the Brotherhood First Expeditionary Force, and they've been sent out to re-establish a connection with the Appalachian Brotherhood, all to work towards a united Brotherhood across the United States.

After working with them for some time, the team ends up receiving a signal that could lead to them contacting the Brotherhood of Steel members in California.

The problem is that Paladin Rahmani would rather not contact them, and instead would lead her unique faction of the Brotherhood of Steel, much to the chagrin of Knight Shin, who is lawful and faithful to the order.

So, who should you side with here, the one who wishes to make a new order, or the one faithful to traditions?

Should You Choose Paladin Rahmani or Knight Shin?

This debate is a little bit more complicated than traditionalism versus modernism.

When talking to Paladin Rahmani during the final section of the Over And Out quest, you'll be given the following options:

• I'm loyal to you, Paladin. Let's destroy the transmitter.
• Knight Shin understands something you don't. I stand with him.
• I'm not loyal to either of you.

Those are pretty bold choices, and you would assume that your decision here will be massive, causing big changes to the story moving forward.

You should go with your gut instinct regardless: are you turning Paladin Rahmani in, or are you betraying the Brotherhood?

Does Your Choice Matter In Fallout 76's Over And Out?

Sorry, what you choose doesn't matter a bit in the short term. Regardless of what you choose, Paladin Rahmani will act out and destroy the transmitter.

A bit of an overreaction, because Lost Hills doesn't sound quite as bad as The Hague.

What Rewards Do You Get For Completing Over And Out?

Regardless, that'll trigger the end of the Over And Out quest, and you'll receive your rewards.

• 500 XP
• 300 Caps
• Various Aid
• Various Grenades
• Oathbreaker

The Oathbreaker is a unique two-handed melee weapon that can drop at levels 30, 40, or 50, depending on when you complete this quest.

Then, you will begin a new quest featuring some big monsters immediately after during The Best Defense.
