Under new UK legislation, providing or using professional essay writing services, or 'essay mills', is now a criminal offence. Students have been made aware of this via today's Student News. They have also been advised that using these services directly contravenes the University's code of conduct. If students are found to be using professional writing services, or passing off other people's work as their own, they will face serious disciplinary action. There are a range of resources available to students aboutstudy skills and avoiding plagiarismon the Oxford Students website. Colleagues are asked to reinforce these messages to students in their parts of the University.
