Every time a dragon gains a level, it grows slightly, but significant changes occur at level 11.
At level 11 epic dragons become larger in size and a star appears above its head. In order to level an epic dragon above level 10, it is required to own either the Relic of the Epics or the Monument of the Epics.
At level 20 epic dragons become larger in size, and it receives a gold crown above its head which replaces the orb. In order to level an epic dragon above level 15, it is required to own both the Relic of the Epics and the Monument of the Epics.

If an adult dragon between levels 11 and 15 goes through the Fountain of Youth it can look like a baby dragon with a star.
If an adult dragon at level 20 goes through the Fountain of Youth it can look like a baby dragon with a crown.
Depending on the dragon, stars and crowns are in different proportions to the the dragon's body.

- On March 12, 2015, dragon stars were introduced to the game with the introduction of the Relic of the Epics in the Epic Egg Hunt event.
- On June 30, 2016, epic dragons gained the opportunity to reach level 20 and gain a crown with the introduction of the Monument of the Epics in the Arcane Pentournament event.
- During Snowy Winter Ball, the crowns for level 20, non-twin dragons were replaced by a red holiday hat.
