Introduction
In Naruto there is a system by which the elemental chakra natures are weak or strong against other natures. We have implemented this by boosting or weakening attacks by 25% in accordance with this scheme.
Restrictions: this only applies to feats taken under elemental release RUs (water, fire, earth, wind, and lightning). There are no bonuses to kekkei genkai or non-elemental attacks. These function as they always have, i.e. 40 CP to cancel/block 40 CP of damage. Feats taken under EGF, copy-nin, or similar have no increases but suffer from elemental weaknesses, i.e. lightning + water will not receive the combo boost but their wind attacks will be weak to fire.
Elemental superiority
water > fire > wind > lightning > earth > water
In other words, water is weak against earth but strong against fire. Fire is weak against water and strong against wind, which is strong against lightning. Earth is strong against water but weak to lightning.
When two elemental jutsu are used against each other, the weaker element does 25% less damage.
Examples:
- Player A uses a 40 CP lightning attack and Player B counters with a 40 CP wind attack. In this instance the lightning does 25% less damage or 30 CP. The attacks do not fully cancel and Player A would receive 10 CP of wind damage.
- Player A uses a 40 CP water barrier to defend against a 40 CP fire attack from Player B. The fire attack functions as a 30 CP attack against the barrier and does not break it.
Combo Attacks
As shown in Naruto, some elements can be combo-ed for increased efficacy. Mechanically this is an increase of 25% of the total damage.
Recognized combos: lightning + water, fire + wind, water + wind, earth + fire
Examples:
- Player A launches a 20 CP water jutsu against Opponent 1 and Player B launches a 40 CP lightning jutsu at Opponent 1. The combo attack, if it hits, does 75 CP of damage to Opponent 1 (each jutsu has it's own to hit, however).
- A player throws a 40 CP fire attack and a 40 CP wind attack at their opponent. If the attacks hit, a combined total of 100 CP is done to the opponent.
Melding Feats
If a player is using a melding feat then they are vulnerable to being hit by the element they are weak to, in which case they take damage as if the meld were not in effect.
For example, earth meld is vulnerable to lightning attacks and wind meld is vulnerable to fire attacks.
