Maple Glazed Ham is super easy and quick recipe for a decadently delicious spiral ham. We are using a boneless ham which makes the entire process even easier however, a bone-in ham can be used. A perfect recipe for Holidays like Easter and Christmas.

Maple Glazed Ham

One of my favorite Holiday meals is a baked spiral ham. It's not only delicious but it's easy to make and the leftovers are great. Just try our Creamy Ham and Pea Pasta , yummy.

Since life has changed so much and celebrations are now smaller, I recently discovered the boneless spiral ham. It's a great cut of ham, boneless, and its also pre-sliced.

This is also a great recipe for a newer cook to start with when you want to make a special meal. It is super easy to prepare with delicious results.

Ingredients

  • We use a boneless spiral ham. However the maple glaze will work on a bone-in ham and smoked whole ham.
  • Be sure and use pure maple syrup. Please do not use "pancake syrup" for this glaze. It isn't maple syrup.
  • I prefer light brown sugar for this recipe. If you use dark brown sugar, there will be more of a molasses flavor.
  • Dijon mustard is awesome and adds a nice zing to the maple syrup.

Why you'll love this recipe

  • Being a boneless ham, it is easy to maneuver in and out of the oven, as it is not heavy.
  • The ham is sliced which makes a gorgeous presentation and easy to slice.
  • With just a few ingredients and about an hour, you'll have a fabulous tasting meal.
  • This is a great crowd pleaser.

Instructions

  1. Place the ham aluminum foil in a shallow pan or baking dish. The ham will be wrapped in the foil while baking to prevent the ham from drying out.
  2. Make the maple glaze by combining brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and maple syrup in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, then let simmer 2-3 minutes.
  3. {Place half the glaze over the ham. Bake, uncovered for about an hour at 350°F.
  4. Spoon remaining glaze over the ham and bake, uncovered another 15 minutes. The ham will be heated through.

Expert Tips and FAQs

  • The ham is precooked and you will only need to warm it up and glaze it.
  • Wrap the ham in aluminum foil before roasting will ensure the moisture stays in the ham.
  • Remove the foil for the last 15 minutes of roasting.
  • A boneless ham needs to cook about 10-15 minutes per pound in a 350°F oven.
  • Refer to the USDA Ham chart for specific info regarding heating temperatures of ham.
  • In general, the internal temperature of a ham should be between 140°F to 165°F.
  • For feeding a crowd, for boneless hams, plan on ⅓ to ½ pound per person.

What sides can I make?

One of my favorites to make is this Cheesy Hash Brown Casserole. A great recipe that can be made ahead of time.

Marshmallow Sweet Potato Casserole is not just for Thanksgiving. We love this one.

Homemade Mashed Potatoes, a classic and so good.

Oven Roasted Green Beans, simple and always requested by my family.

Candied Carrots are another easy to make ahead recipe.

Green Beans and Mushrooms are another big hit.

Funeral Potatoes recipe, a classic cheesy hash brown casserole that is a fabulous side for any main dish.

Looking for some biscuits, from scratch Air Fryer Biscuits are light and fluffy. Made in the air fryer so they don't take up oven room. Another favorite are these Hawaiian Rolls Recipe, yum.

Leftovers and Storage

  • When I make any type of baked ham, I want leftovers because there are so many things to make with them. Checkout my leftover ham recipes post. The leftovers can be kept in a covered container or storage bag in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Good news, you can also freeze the leftover ham and use within 3 months.
  • To make this ahead of time, I would only make it one day ahead if needed. The morning of an event is also a good time to make the ham.
