💭 Why you’ll love this recipe
This apple pie tastes amazing. It is a simple pie recipe with just a four ingredients needed and only a few steps to make.
🥧 Ingredients needed
Since this recipe is an easy one, there’s no need for any fancy ingredients. You will need:
- Refrigerated pie dough: You will need one box of pie dough which should contain two pie crusts.
- Red apples: For the filling. I like gala apples the best but really any red variety will do.
- White sugar: To sweeten the pie with.
- Cinnamon: To give the pie a little spice.
Yes, that’s it! Just four easy ingredients. You will want to be sure you have a box of refrigerated pie dough that has two crusts since you will need one for the base and one to top the pie with. Let your pie crust sit out so that it’s close to room temperature. Very cold pre-made pie dough will be difficult to handle.
🥣 What type of pie pan do I need for this recipe?
You will need a regular pie pan for this recipe. Place your pie pan on a baking sheet to avoid spillage while the pie is baking. You will also need aluminum foil to cover the pie while baking.
🍎 What are the best type of apples for this apple pie recipe?
Some apples are better for snacking or for other recipes. The best types of apples for this recipe include: Gala, Granny Smith, Honey Crisp, McIntosh, and Pink Lady. I have even used Red Delicious before and they worked fine in this recipe.
⏲️ Recipe instructions (step by step guide)
Begin by setting your pie dough out so that it reaches room temperature. This will make it easier to handle.
Wash, peel, and core your apples. Slice your apples into bite size pieces (image 1).
In a mixing bowl mix the apples, sugar, and cinnamon together.
Unroll and lay your first sheet of dough into a pie dish. Pour the apple mixture over the dough (image 2).
Add the second sheet of dough on top and tuck it (image 3).
Cover with aluminum foil (image 4).
Bake at 425 degrees for 45 minutes on top of a baking sheet (to avoid any spillage). Remove the foil and bake an additional 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
🍦 What should I serve this apple pie with?
You can serve this apple pie as is or you can top it with vanilla ice cream. Either way, it’s delicious!
👩🏻🍳 Tips
- Cut your apples into bite size pieces. If you cut them too small, it will make the pie watery.
- Make sure you set your pie dough out for a few minutes before making the pie. This will make it easier to handle.
🥡 How to store leftovers
Store this apple pie covered with plastic wrap or aluminum foil in your fridge. It will be good for up to four days after baking.

What brand of pie crust do you suggest is best for the pie. I usually make my own pie crust.

I have used the store brand from HEB (a grocery store here in Texas) and Pillsbury before. Both were fine. Just make sure you let your crust set out so it is easy to handle 🙂
