The Dutch Caribbean is a term used to include all six Dutch islands in the Caribbean. They are all part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This term should not be confused with Caribbean Netherlands (which is just 3 of the islands) and the Netherlands Antilles (a term not used anymore since 2010). There are 3 countries in the Dutch Caribbean: Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten. The other 3 islands include Saba, St. Eustatius and Bonaire and are special municipalities of the Netherlands (in Europe) and called Caribbean Netherlands. This Dutch Caribbean travel guide includes all you need to know about these islands.
Geographically the islands can be clustered in the ABC-islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao) in the Leeward Islands and the SSS-islands (St. Maarten, St. Eustatius, Saba) in the Leeward Islands. Both clusters are a great 2-week Caribbean island-hopping trip. St. Maarten is famous for its beaches and nightlife, St. Eustatius & Saba for its tranquility, hiking and diving. Aruba & Curacao are for culture, families, and nightlife while Bonaire is more laid back. Each island has beautiful beaches and options to go snorkeling and diving.
The Dutch islands in the Caribbean are a perfect destination for island lovers. Check the below Dutch Caribbean travel guide and plan your trip. It includes itineraries for each of the islands plus island-hopping itineraries which are the best reference to plan your trip.
Make sure to ready my 2 weeks St. Maarten itinerary & island-hopping guide to St. Eustatius & Saba if you’re planning a trip to the Dutch Caribbean.
