The Dust Mite is a creature found in large clusters around the Shed Surroundings and the Undershed. They can be a deadly nuisance and also guard the few Lint nodes in the game.

Behavior[]

Dust Mites are similar to Lawn Mites in that they gather in large swarms and simply wander their respective areas. They have the mites jump attack and can also shoot projectiles like the Infected Mite. The difference is that the projectile will create a dust cloud that will slow and lower the attack of the player.

Interactions With Player[]

Dust Mites are aggressive to the player and will attempt to chase them to great distances.

Interactions With Other Creatures[]

Dust Mites, much like Lawn Mites, are aggressive to Aphids and Weevils and will chase them to a great distance. They are not aggressive to other creatures but will defend themselves if needed. Despite Black Soldier Ants normally being aggressive to every creature, they and Black Worker Ants are actively passive and will actually defend Dust Mites if attacked in their vicinity, meaning that mites can be annoying to kill if ants are nearby.

Advanced Loot Table[]

This is a more advanced covering of the loot-table of Dust Mite. Each item has an independent chance and count, in which the chance is the chance it can drop and the count is the amount of items that have that chance. If a count larger than 1 is in one section, then each item has an independent chance from one another (EX: Instead of getting say 2 of a resource, you can get 1 with a 70% chance and another with an additional 70% chance). In terms of Stealing, it can take one item from every section of the loot table, so even if a item count is say 5, the player will only steal one from that section.

Creature Loot Tables also tend to have large amounts of 1% items, which is intended to make stealing more rare items harder, as the player is more likely to steal the large amounts of 1% items than a singular 50% item.

Note: For consistency sake, all duplicate categories have a multiplier next to them, but function as unique loot types when say using Stealing.

Strategy[]

Dust Mites are a deadly foe due to their swarm behavior. They should be fought with a tier 3 weapon, or an upgraded Crow Crossbow to exploit their weakness. Due to their resistances to most damage types from other tier 3 weapons, a Mint Mace is the only real solid option for tackling them. The Crow Crossbow is a very solid option due to its range and high damage. The player should focus on dodging their dust balls, as the AOE cloud it creates can heavily hurt the player with their debuffs.

Trivia[]

• Despite Dust Mites in-game being very small, real-life dust mites are actually microscopic, making their in-game size fairly inaccurate.
