Whenever we are working on our road trip planning, if there’s something a bit out of the ordinary we’re going to want to do it. As soon as I read about Driving on the bottom of the ocean in the best road trip routing book I’ve ever read, it had to be routed into our plans.

Just north of St Andrews by the Sea in New Brunswick, you can drive across the floor of the Bay of Fundy to visit Minister’s Island.
While we didn’t make it all the way across to drive around and visit the island, we did spend a few hours driving and walking around on the bottom of the ocean. It was a short drive from the Marriott Algonquin resort at St Andrews by the Sea New Brunswick so we came back a few more times to see at higher tides

The tide levels on the Bay of Fundy can change by 24 feet at Passmaquoddy Bay, and up to 50 feet at other parts of the bay!
You can see the high tide debris lines and the cars parked well below at this low tide.

This was a tremendous experience that we still remember years later. It was not at all crowded and very neat for those of you interested in the tides.
