With Bioware's recent announcement that they're retiring the points system for Mass Effect and Dragon Age DLC, players can now get some of the DLC for both franchises for free on Origins. That, coupled with the recent long-anticipated announcement of the 4th installment to the Dragon Age series, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf means players have lots to look forward to from Bioware over the next two years.
And although Dragon Age: Inquisition is now 8 years old, there are still plenty of new players experiencing the franchise for the first time. With huge RPGs there's a lot to learn and it's easy to make mistakes that reverberate throughout your entire gameplay, especially for first-timers unfamiliar with the franchises' mechanics.
Keeping Only One Save File
In the first game, there are many important choices that players need to make. However, the choice of using only one save file is something that should be avoided at all times.
While using one save file can be convenient, sometimes it can also be inconvenient. If there is a decision that a player makes that does not have the satisfactory outcome they were hoping for, there is no going back. Manage the save files when necessary and always keep a backup.

Like Mass Effect, Dragon Age allows the player to continue what they started from recent saves. But keeping specific settings on a game won’t help the player continue from where they left off.

If players have already played the first game and wish to continue with the story they started, the default world state is a good thing to avoid. However, many forget that each race and class comes with different perks that will assist the player in what combat style they plan on using and the amount of damage resistance they come with. If those are important qualities to the player, it is better to look through the options before doing anything else.
Playing Too Fast
Side quests are not everyone’s favorite thing when it comes to RPGs. Many players prefer to play the main story and go through the story to finish the game, but that’s not always the best idea.
Speeding through Inquisition is something that should be avoided. When players rush through the game, they get locked out of certain content and miss specific opportunities that taking the slow and steady route would typically give. No Variety In Party Members
There are many tough battles that players face in Inquisition, and the party players have when facing these enemies can make all the difference. There are certain quests where players will benefit from having specific companions in their party, and missions that open up dialogue players would otherwise miss.
Players also want to consider the class types of their party members. A party with all warriors might do okay, for example, but a varied party that makes use of rogues, mages, and warriors has a more effective range and a mixture of abilities that make the player able to tackle any enemy type.
Not Crafting Runes
Not everything in a game is straightforward. Some things require special attention that shouldn't be ignored, such as using Runes during the game.

Dragon Age has unique crafting mechanics that can be easily overlooked due to the equipment and material needed and where to find them as well as being able to loot weapons off of bodies and go from there. Rune crafting is an important part of the game for a few reasons. Runes can assist in improving weapon effectiveness and add magical traits to them, such as adding a cleansing rune to mage staves. The only downside is that they cannot be applied to armor, and once a rune is applied to a weapon, it cannot be removed, only replaced by another rune.
Spending Too Much Time/Not Enough In The Hinterlands At The Start Of The Game
Spending time in one place for a while can be a great experience when taking in the landscape, but spending too much time can be counterproductive. For players, many find this to be the struggle of being in Hinterlands.
The Hinterlands has some great visuals, and it can be easy to get stuck there for an extended time. There’s nothing wrong with spending time there, but it’s not the whole game, and there should be a time limit. Get what needs to be done to push forward and then move out, so there is no risk of missing out on the great hidden details and gems Inquisition has to offer.
Missing Certain Agents
If a player has fallen prey to the urge to fly through the game and skip quests and specific missions, there are quite a few important things that players need that can be missed. One of these vital things is the agents the player encounters.

Recruiting agents is a wise investment as it helps reduce the time each advisor takes to complete war table operations. These agents are acquired by completing side quests and having the proper party member with the player’s character. Once more, avoid flying through the game and make the right choices to get the agents.
Ignoring the Sit In Judgment Feature
The great thing about RPG games is the player gets to choose their destiny and decide on the outcome for themselves and the characters in the game. For players who wish to determine the fate of other characters, the Skyhold allows them to do so.
To judge arrested characters, the Skyhold must be unlocked, and the player must sit down on the throne in the main hall. This is one thing to remember while playing because the player can gain new agents and unlock new war table operations, thrones, and responses.
Ignoring The Effects Of The Next Divine
As stated previously, choices made throughout the storyline are essential when playing. Making the right decision and how the game is played affects the entire outcome, and some players occasionally forget that.
Ignoring the effects of the next Divine is an unwise decision. The game begins with the destruction of the Temple of Sacred Ashes and the death of Justinia V. By the choices the player makes end up affecting who becomes the next Divine by their choices throughout the game, so remember to choose wisely.
