I bought a M1 Mac Min for an audio project and was alarmed to see a 9to5Mac video that said M1 Macs slow down over time to the point of unusability. Is this true? I was kind of hoping to keep the Mini for audio and video work.
The 9to5Mac people seemed to feel that the M1 Macs were a failure because Apple isn't able to make MacOS work well with the chips, owing to fault in the architecture.
I would like to be able to call BS to this notion. The 9to5Mac video didn't present real research or solutions. Thank you.
Mac mini, macOS 13.1

Please do not provide a link to that garbage for further examination. 🙂
Over the years I have found that not all, but 90% of problems are due to Users installing third-party AV, Cleaning, Optimizing and other types of Crap-ware on their Mac's. Or... they think that a Mac can have a million and half App's open and running at the same time.
For a good tool to measure your Mac's performance now and down the road.

- M1 Ultra Mac Studio Severely SluggishI bought the 48C GPU M1 Ultra Mac Studio and it's been running so slow. The benchmarks I've ran all seem to be within reason, however day to day use has been so sluggish. Beachballs galore, freezing, and a Bluetooth issue on startup that doesn't allow any inputs from peripherals for a full minute (using the brand new magic accessories as well).I use the machine mainly in After Effects and Photoshop, and I've noticed it feels faster working on my m1pro laptop. Wondering if this is just the woes of needing an update, or if I have a defective machine. 52953
- M1 Macbook Pro 8/512 Very Slow PerformanceHonestly, I'm very frustrated with the new m1 MacBook pro 8/512. Before I buy this I watched many youtube videos, they suggested buying a MacBook air because they noticed Macbook Air Is fast so I thought the Macbook pro will faster but I was wrong. Here Are my issues:Slow performance even I'm writing this very hardly, when I try to switch another chrome tab it's take 5 second to load sometimes it takes 15-20 second.Sometimes Charge backup, ok but sometimes charge backup gone within 5 hours.I uninstall much software and clear the mack even clear my mack history but the same problem. Thanks 66813
- M1 Macbook applications very slow to loadI recently upgraded to a MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021), as my 2017 MacBook Pro was getting tired. The hype for the M1 chip was that it was blindingly fast. But I'm not finding that at all - if anything, it seems to be slower, with many apps taking noticeably longer to launch than on my older laptop.I'm disappointed, but I wonder if there might be something slowing my machine down, or something wrong with the hardware. Any thoughts? 32176

While I do not have an M1 MacMini, I do have an M1 MacBook Air that has the same M1 that is in the Mini and 512GB SSD that I bought a few weeks after the M1 Macs came out in November 2020 and it is just as fast now as it was then.
Actually in some cases it is actually faster as many of the apps that were originally Intel now have native M1 versions.

You're welcome. Glad to hear that the M1 scored well on your initial project. It should serve you well for many many years, if you don't try and turn it into an MS PC.

Thank you. The M1 Mini did a wonderful job on the long audio cleaning project for which I bought it, so it's a relief to hear that you feel that info is hooey.

Do M1 Macs slow down over time, and if so, is there a fix?
