The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) grant provides funding for eligible TK-6th grade students to receive before and after-school child care.
ELO-P programming requirements include a total of 9 hours of learning and care, thus expanding the instructional day. In addition, there must be 30 additional 9-hour intersession days (e.g. school breaks and summer).
The ELO-P program must be offered at no charge and accessible to all students in grades TK-6 who are identified in one or more of the following categories:
- Foster youth
- Homeless
- Low-income (qualify for free and reduced-price meals)
It is the intent of the Legislature that expanded learning programs are pupil-centered, results-driven, include community partners, and complement, but do not replicate, learning activities in the regular school day and school year.
