Disney Dreamlight Valley’s A Rift in Time expansion introduces a new royal tool, the Royal Hourglass, which features a powerful new ability called Timebending. Timebending allows the player to scan nearby for hidden treasures. A colored indicator appears over the player's character, which changes color based on their proximity to the nearest treasure. When the player is nearest to the treasure, the indicator will turn orange, and scanning nearby will open a prompt to uncover the treasure.
There are many different items that players can discover through Timebending on Eternity Isle. Timebending is the primary method of obtaining Mist, a new currency akin to Dreamlight. Mist is used to unlock new areas in Eternity Isle’s biomes, craft items at the Timebending Table, upgrade the Royal Hourglass, and fuel Ancient Machines.

Players will also uncover a variety of items via Timebending. There are three types of materials players will discover via Timebending: Parts, Fragments, and Gifts. While Timebending Parts and Fragments, along with foraged items and Mist, are used primarily to craft furniture, Timebending Gifts have unique crafting uses of their own. Here’s everything players need to know about these mysterious gifts obtained via Timebending in Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time.
How to Get Timebending Gifts
Timebending Gifts are obtained through the use of the Royal Hourglass's Timebending feature anywhere on Eternity Isle and within the Valley. The player has a chance to obtain a Timebending Gift item as they would any other item obtained via Timebending. To enhance their chances of obtaining Timebending Gifts, players can explore these areas with a companion. Players should also consider assigning characters to the newly introduced Timebending companion role, which can result in additional treasure discoveries when Timebending.
When accompanied by a character, the likelihood of finding the Timebending Gift from that character’s universe is increased, regardless of that character’s assigned companion role. For example, when accompanied by Jack Skellington, the player is more likely to discover the Deadly Nightshade Timebending gift, whereas Timebending while accompanied by WALL-E or EVE will result in increased drops of Fire Extinguishers.
All Timebending Gifts
There are currently 15 Timebending Gifts in Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time. Each of these gifts has a corresponding Disney universe, and the player will have an increased chance of discovering the item when accompanied by a companion from that universe.

What Are Timebending Gifts Used For
Despite each character having a corresponding gift and the in-game description suggesting they would make good gifts, Timebending Gifts are not primarily intended for gifting to characters. When a player presents one of these items to a character, the increase in Friendship is no greater than what would be achieved by giving them another non-favorite item. Although only a few select quests require them and Timebending Gifts can be used as decor, there are two major uses for these items in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Crafting Timebending Training Manuals
The introduction of the Timebending activity in Disney Dreamlight Valley comes with an accompanying companion role. The Timebending companion role is extremely useful for players as it boosts the number of items found during Timebending. Many new recipes for new items and significant upgrades require Timebending Parts, Fragments, and Gifts, including the valuable Ancient Cores used for upgrading royal tools and crafting helpful machinery.
The only way to teach a character the Timebending companion role is to use a Timebending Training Manual. These can be crafted at a regular crafting table (not the Timebending Table) using the following materials:
Material | How to Get |
---|---|
10 Wooden Oar | Timebending in Eternity Isle or the Valley. Increased drop chance when accompanied by Moana characters. |
10 Dinglehopper | Timebending in Eternity Isle or the Valley. Increased drop chance when accompanied by The Little Mermaid characters. |
10 Pink Bow | Timebending in Eternity Isle or the Valley. Increased drop chance when accompanied by Mickey & Friends characters. |
5000 Dreamlight | Complete Dreamlight Duties in the Valley. |
Players must craft a Timebending Training Manual for each companion they plan to assign to the Timebending role. These manuals are single-use items and can only be used on characters with whom the player has reached the maximum Friendship Level (10), regardless of the character's current role.

Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time added a mini-game called Scramblecoin, and here is everything to know about it.
Crafting Scramblecoin Pieces
Timebending Gifts are also used in recipes to craft Scramblecoin pieces. Scramblecoin is a new board game introduced in A Rift in Time in which players use game pieces depicting Disney characters to accumulate coins on a game board. Each piece has different move conditions, and some have special abilities, making higher-quality pieces very desirable for winning daily challenges.
While many Scramblecoin pieces are obtained through playing the board game, a select handful of pieces are crafted using the Timebending Table. Timebending pieces can be crafted from the “Special” category of the Timebending Table, and the recipes are unlocked by leveling up the Royal Hourglass. There are four Scramblecoin pieces, which are obtained only via crafting, and each recipe requires a sizable amount of Timebending Gift items.
