The growth was not hom*ogenous across the company's operations, however. In the last quarter of fiscal 2023, some of Disney's core segments — such as media and entertainment (including linear network, direct-to-consumer business, and content sales and licensing) — reported a lower year-on-year growth in revenue, while the experiences segment which includes parks and cruises, rose by 13 percent compared to a year earlier.
More subscribers, oscillating income
Disney's flagship subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service continued to expand. In the fourth quarter of fiscal 2023, the number of Disney+ subscribers worldwide fell by eight percent compared to the same period iont he previous year. The Walt Disney Company struggled to generate as many gains as it did before the pandemic. In the fiscal year 2023, Disney's net income amounted to about 2.35 billion dollars, a decline of 25 percent compared to 2022.
