Acquisition[]

Speak with Iron Bull about the Ben-Hassrath, then have a drink with him and the Chargers inside the Herald's Rest after relocating to Skyhold. At least 35 approval is required to trigger the scene. The next time you speak with Iron Bull, the quest will trigger.

Note: Potentially leaving Skyhold and returning at least once may be required to allow for the quest to trigger properly.

Note: Acquiring this quest and traveling to the Coast may cause the unintentional failure of Sutherland and Company Missing, see notes below for details.

Walkthrough[]

  • Head for the Storm coast with Bull
  • Speak with Bull to begin the assault
  • Clear out the Venatori
  • Signal the dreadnought
  • Check on Bull back at Skyhold

Bull's extension of the Ben-Hassrath's offer is a surprise even to him, and the Inquisitor can voice distrust of the Qunari to Bull's disapproval. Bringing Dorian will unlock some additional dialogue regarding history between Tevinter and the Qunari. When ready, head to the Storm Coast and approach the rendezvous point just south of the Blades of Hessarian Fort.

Bull's contact, Gatt, will be waiting at the Storm Coast, and he lays out the plan.

Note: Dorian has special dialogue here if you bring him along.

Gatt: It's a pleasure to meet you, Inquisitor. Hissrad's reports say you're doing good work.

  • Pleased to meet you. Slightly Approves
  • I'm thrilled. (no approval changes)
  • We have a common enemy. (no approval changes)

Dorian (if he is in the party): Yes, one free from all that pointless free will and independent thought. Such an improvement.

  • You're right, Dorian. Slightly Disapproves
  • Tevinter's worse. Slightly Approves
  • Neither side is perfect. (no approval changes)
  • Let's focus on the mission. (no approval changes)

Gatt: We'll need to eliminate the Venatori, then signal the dreadnought so it can come in and take out the smuggler ship.

  • [Special] Bull, does this work for you? Slightly Approves
Demands of the Qun (Inquisition) (5)

The Qunari dreadnought Berethlok with a crew of one hundred souls[1] intends to end a Venatori smuggling operation. Their cargo is red lyrium, and the Ben-Hassrath see this as a clear and present threat to Qunari ambitions in the north, fearing this will allow the Venatori to wipe out the Qunari presence in Seheron and turn the war's tide in favour of Tevinter, before returning south to crush the Inquisition. To secure victory and allow the Dreadnought's bombardment to succeed, both Venatori encampments must be wiped out simultaneously. Gatt, Bull and the Inquisitor's party will leave to handle one site, while Cremisius Aclassi and the Bull's Chargers leave to destroy the other. Bull will go to brief Krem, and Gatt can be spoken to for some more information on his own history, Bull's past and life under the Qun. Afterwards, speaking to Bull will begin the assault.

The lower path to the fortification site is blocked off, so head directly north past where Bull was speaking to the chargers to reach the camp. The Venatori have set up some smaller watchposts along the path which must be dealt with first. The first campsite has a Venatori Zealot and two Venatori Gladiators with Tower Shields. Once they're dead, a pair of Venatori Marksmen and another Zealot can be found behind the trees on the hilltop to the south east of the camp fire.

The main Venatori camp is north-east of the first camp, containing a Venatori Mage, three Zealots and a Gladiator. The mage is farthest from the camp entrance and so has the advantage of range, thus removing the mage first will make the rest of the battle easier. Once the Venatori are beaten, the camp can be looted for various items. Afterwards, light the campfire to signal the dreadnought.

Once the signal has gone up a large number of Venatori are seen marching towards the Chargers. In the end the player must make a choice:

  • Tell Bull to order the Chargers to retreat, saving the Chargers' lives at the cost of the dreadnought and the alliance. This option makes Bull Tal-Vashoth.
  • Tell Bull to leave the Chargers to die, saving the dreadnought and the alliance at the cost of the Chargers' lives. This option reaffirms Bull's commitment to the Qun.

Regardless of the Inquisitor's decision, Bull Greatly Approves upon returning to Skyhold. Gatt will visit Skyhold one final time, either to tell Bull he has been declared Tal-Vashoth or that the Inquisitor has been named Basalit-An and that the Ben-Hassrath will begin forwarding the full extent of the Qunari's information regarding the Venatori spy networks.

This section contains spoilers for
Trespasser.

The decision made during this quest will have a significant impact on Iron Bull's fate during the Trespasser DLC. If the Inquisitor instructed him to save the dreadnought, he will betray the party under orders from the Ben-Hassrath and the player will be forced to kill him, regardless of approval rating or romance. If the Chargers are saved, he will not betray the Inquisitor. If this quest isn't done at all, Bull will still betray the party even though the Chargers are still alive. During the betrayal, Bull will address the Inquisitor as "boss" as he formerly did, but accent it so that it sounds like 'bas', the Qunari word for 'thing' or 'foreigner'. 'bas' is also what shows up in the subtitles.

Rewards[]

  • 1,025 XP
  • Influence 400
  • Power 3
  • Qunari Bench
  • Dread - a unique helmet for Iron Bull, looted from one of the chests in the Venatori Camp
  • See Iron Bull/Approval for approval changes.

Approval[]

After the signal has gone up...

(Gatt) I know. But you need to do what's right, Hissrad... For this alliance, and for the Qun.
  • Save your men. - Greatly Approves (later at Skyhold)
  • Save the dreadnought. - Greatly Approves (later at Skyhold)

(If The Inquisitor chooses to save Iron Bull's men by signaling a retreat)

(Gatt) All these years, Hissrad, and you throw away all that you are. For what? For this? For them?
  • I'm sorry, Gatt.
  • Gatt, we can salvage this. - Slightly Disapproves
  • Don't call him Hissrad. - Slightly Approves

Back at Skyhold...

So much for that.
  • (Underworld Knowledge) We can minimize losses. - Approves
  • You did the right thing. - Slightly Approves
  • I'm sorry. - Slightly Disapproves
  • How are you feeling? - Slightly Disapproves

(If The Inquisitor chooses to save the dreadnought, leaving Iron Bull's men to die)

(Sighs.) Yeah.
  • I'm sorry.
  • Look away, Bull. - Slightly Disapproves
  • Can they do it? - Slightly Approves

Back at Skyhold...

A Qunari alliance. That's a first.
  • (Underworld Knowledge) We'll make good use of it. - Approves
  • I'm sorry about your men. - Slightly Approves
  • What does this mean for you? - Slightly Disapproves
  • Go take some time.

Notes[]

  • If the quests Demands of the Qun and Sutherland and Company Missing are both currently active, it is recommend to not have Iron Bull in the active party when traveling to the Storm Coast as Demands of the Qun will trigger as soon as the party enters the area. If this occurs Sutherland and Company Missing can no longer be triggered; when searching the "Completed Quests" section of the journal under the Storm Coast, the journal will read: "The quest is no longer available".
  • Gatt will have comments about certain companions of the Inquisitor. For example, if Cole is in the party, he will question Iron Bull working with a demon to which Bull will reply that Cole is "alright". He will also get into an argument with Dorian about a life of slavery versus a life under the Qun.
  • When Iron Bull is talking with the Chargers, he is wearing a pre-assigned greataxe on his back. This reverts to whatever he was equipped with after the dialog is over.
  • Rescuing the Chargers prevents the player from acquiring the Masterwork Archon Staff Schematic as the war table operation chain will not become available. Allowing the Chargers to die however will have significant consequences in the Trespasser DLC.

FAQs

How do you get the demands of the Qun in Dragon Age Inquisition? ›

Acquisition. Speak with Iron Bull about the Ben-Hassrath, then have a drink with him and the Chargers inside the Herald's Rest after relocating to Skyhold. At least 35 approval is required to trigger the scene. The next time you speak with Iron Bull, the quest will trigger.

Should I give the relic to Isabela or the Qunari? ›

Give the relic to Isabela and receive a flood of approval from Isabela and fellow companions. The contrary happens if the relic is returned to the Qunari. You run into quite the tiff when you enter the Foundry. Isabela leaves to pursue the relic, leaving you to deal with a hodgepodge of Qunari and Tevinter enemies.

How to stop Iron Bull from betraying you? ›

One either kills Iron Bull or dies, with no hope of changing his mind. His approval rating does not matter, and his romance also does not matter. It is a very unforgiving consequence that the players cannot escape unless they reload back hours into the game.

What happens if you give Isabela to the Arishok? ›

The Arishok will want to take her, as well, so as to punish the thief by forcing her to submit to the Qun. You can let him take her (in which case you'll never see her again, and the Arishok will leave without further violence), or you can fight to keep her. If the Arishok respects you, this fight can be a duel.

What is the hardest quest in Dragon Age: Inquisition? ›

The Rifts At The Reach - Emerald Graves

The Emerald Graves is one of the most hostile regions in Dragon Age: Inquisition, and many dangerous enemies will wait for their chance to end the Inquisitor. The rifts at the Reach will spawn various demons, including two Despair Demons and one Pride Demon.

Can you flirt with everyone in Dragon Age: Inquisition? ›

As the player, you can attempt to role-play a polyamorous character to an extent, but none of the NPCs will reciprocate. You can flirt with as many characters as you wish (subject to their preferences), but as you complete storyline milestones, multiple suitors may confront you and ask you to make a choice.

What happens if I don't tell Dex about the relic? ›

If you ignore it, nothing happens - Dex doesn't know and you carry on with the mission as normal.

Should I stop Sebastian from taking the relic? ›

Regardless of which dialogue option the player chooses, it won't affect the outcome of the situation, because Sebastian will always end up taking the relic. If the player encourages him to proceed with his plan, he'll unsurprisingly agree and take the relic.

Is it better to give the relic to Dex or Evelyn? ›

Should Players Side With Dex or Evelyn in Cyberpunk 2077? It doesn't seem to matter which party V chooses to side with. Because of the way the events of the heist go down, V and Jackie won't get paid, and Dex will stab V in the back regardless, likely for more money in his pocket.

Can you romance Iron Bull? ›

The Iron Bull, or Hissrad as he is known among his own people, is the one-eyed Qunari leader of the Bull's Chargers and a member of the Ben-Hassrath. He is a potential companion and a romance option for either a male or female Inquisitor.

Is Iron Bull tal vashoth? ›

If his personal quest is not completed, even if the Chargers are still alive, Bull will also turn on the Inquisitor here. Completing the quest and saving the Chargers, however, marks Bull as Tal-Vashoth.

What is the Iron Bull's real name? ›

If the protagonist meets Gatt, a former elven slave and a convert to the Qun (known as a "Viddathari") whom Bull nicknamed and recruited in the past, he reveals that the Iron Bull is in fact known as Hissrad (meaning "one who creates illusion" or "liar") among his own people.

Can you romance Fenris after sleeping with Isabela? ›

It's likely a bug rather than what the developers planned but in the PS3 version, at least, you can't start a romance Fenris if you've had a fling with anyone else. You have to romance him first, and can't do more than flirt with any of your other companions if you want to carry the romance through to the end.

Hawke has earned the Arishok's respect. If Hawke refuses to duel him or is not offered a duel, they will instead fight the Arishok and all surrounding Qunari with the entire party (and Isabela will join in if she is there).

Can you save Hawke's mother? ›

No matter which option you choose (with Gascard's help or without), there is no way to save your mother from her unfortunate fate. Before Leandra dies, she tells Hawke that she is proud of them.

The quest begins when Morrigan's approval is high enough and she asks the Warden to look for the Black Grimoire that was taken from Flemeth long ago. She believes it may still be in the Circle Tower.
