Support for the NetBIOS protocol in Windows when running in a TCP/IP network. NetBIOS over TCP/IP (NBT) supports legacy applications that use the NetBIOS protocol as well as the NetBIOS name server (NBNS), which converts NetBIOS names into IP addresses.
