What can I not bring into Norway? ›

Importing foodstuffs If you intend to import food and drink (foodstuffs) from abroad, you must always pay VAT. Some goods are also subject to customs duty and special taxes. Remember to always register as an importer of foodstuffs with the Norwegian Food Safety Authority.

Simplified customs declaration of alcohol and tobacco As a traveller to Norway, you may, in addition to the duty-free quota, declare up to 27 litres of beer or wine, four litres of spirits, 400 cigarettes and 500 grams of tobacco, chewing tobacco or snuff for personal use.

When travelling to Norway, you must prove that the medicines you are carrying are for your personal use. Examples of such proof include a prescription, medical certificate or pharmacy label on the packaging.

Also, anything you bring back that you did not have when you left the United States must be "declared." For example, you would declare alterations made in a foreign country to a suit you already owned, and any gifts you acquired outside the United States.

Officials will review your required passenger travel documents, such as passport, visa, green card, disembarkation card (provided by flight attendant during flight), immunization documentation, letters of confirmation or support, etc.

Solid food items (not liquids or gels) can be transported in either your carry-on or checked bags. Liquid or gel food items larger than 3.4 oz are not allowed in carry-on bags and should be placed in your checked bags if possible.

You can take solid food such as sandwiches and fruit through security and on board. All liquid food must be packed in individual containers with a maximum capacity of 100 ml (3,4 oz) each and the containers must fit into one transparent and re-sealable plastic bag that is no larger than 1 liter.

Cash. Debit and credit cards are accepted almost everywhere, and many places also accept payment by phone, like Google Pay and Apple Pay. But it is still a good idea to have a bit of cash on you for small purchases.
