Credit One Platinum Review

The Credit One Bank® Platinum Visa® is a decent unsecured credit card for people with fair credit that offers 1% cash back oneligible purchases and charges an annual fee of $39. Although it does not require a security deposit, the Credit One Bank Credit Card is not cheap. For example, it charges interest at an annual rate of 29.74% (V), while the market average is 23.1%.
So, what does the Credit One Platinum Visa give cardholders in return? In terms of borrowing power, cardholders start with a credit limit of $300. But as little as $261 may be available to use right off the bat, as the card’s annual fee is $39. When it comes to rewards, applicants will receive 1% cash back on eligible purchases.
Below, you can find all of the other information you’ll need to decide whether or not to apply for the Credit OnePlatinum Visa Card.
Credit One Bank Platinum Visa Review Highlights
Annual Fee: $39
The Credit One Platinum Visa’s annual fee is $39. The average credit card charges$22.22per year.
Rewards: 1% cash back on eligible purchases
This rate applies to gas and groceries, as well as your monthly mobile phone, internet, cable, and satellite TV service purchases charged to the card.
Credit Limit: $300+
The Credit One Platinum Visa Card’s minimum credit limit of $300 and potentially high fees mean the card is likely to provide very limited borrowing capabilities.
APR: 29.74% (V)
Because of the Credit One Platinum Visa Card’s high interest rate, carrying a balance from month to month with this card will be very expensive. The average APR among credit cards for people with fair credit is 26.85%.
Credit Score Needed: Faircredit
People with lower scores may get approved, but they will likely have to pay a higher annual fee.
Credit-Bureau Reporting: Monthly
This means using the card responsibly will help you improve your credit score. Always paying the bill by the due date and not maxing out your spending limit are particularly important.
You may be interested to know that this is not the only unsecured credit card people can get from Credit One Bank. There’s also the Credit One Bank® Platinum Visa® for Rebuilding Credit and the Credit One Bank® NASCAR® Credit Card. They have very similar terms, however, and none can compete with the best secured credit cards if building credit at a low cost is your top priority.

The Credit One Platinum credit limit is $300 or more. Everyone who gets approved for Credit One Platinum is guaranteed a credit limit of at least $300, and particularly creditworthy applicants could get limits a lot higher than that. Plus, the higher an applicant's credit score and income are, the higher the starting credit limit is likely to be.
Keep in mind that you can ask to get a credit limit increase by calling the Credit One Bank customer service number you see on the back of your card, but it's best not to do that more than once a year. Credit One Bank will also evaluate your account periodically to determine whether you are eligible for a credit limit increase. Paying on time and keeping your credit utilization low are key for getting unsolicited credit line increases with Credit One Bank.

Credit One offers your Experian credit score, updated on a monthly basis. They also have credit monitoring, to let you know once something important happens on your credit report. This makes it easier to track fraudulent transactions.
Although free credit score is offered as an additional benefit for some of Credit One's credit cards, this is something easily accessible on several websites. In fact, you can also get your credit score for free on WalletHub...

Mediocre benefits. Not suitable for folks with excellent credit. The dispute process is ridiculous—I was asked for a police report when I was overcharged $12.84 for a burger. It doesn't seem like they hire the best or the brightest.

I called to cancel my credit card five months ago, and the service representative was okay and canceled my credit right then. However, my credit card is still active and takes my monthly payment. They clearly recorded me asking to cancel the card, but they pretended to misunderstand and sent me a new card and continued to collect the monthly fee. I never received the card and have not used it. This credit card company seems to be more interested in taking the customer's money than listening to what the customer has to say. I've had to pay fees for five months for a card I don't use anymore. It's absurd.

Worst credit card I've ever had in my life! Approved for 1000, used the card for work, paid the card off the first month I had it. Then they placed my card on hold. Then had to contact my bank, mean while I'm out of state working and can't use the card. Had the bank send my bank statement so they could verify this was my account and that it was me that made the payment. Mind you this process takes 7 to 10 buisness days. Also when I paid the bill, it was paid early and I went through the online bill pay at there website which already verified my account when I paid it. So needless to say, I canceled that card and will never use them again! I've never had a credit card company need to verify my bank account or place my card on hold

An option to pay $4.95 for express payment, but they post it 2 days later so your closing balance is higher on the statement closing, which looks bad to the credit bureau. I paid the balance in full a day before, but the posted my payment two days later. Now it looks like I have a high balance on my report.
