Credit Card — GHS FCU (2024)

Credit Card FAQ

How is a credit card different from a debit card?

A debit card immediately withdraws existing funds from your checking account to which it is linked. You can only spend money you already have in the checking account.

With a credit card, you are borrowing money. When you apply, your financial institution weighs various factors to determine the limit, or maximum amount you can borrow.

You get a monthly statement reviewing all of your purchases, as well as how much you owe. Credit card payments typically have a minimum monthly payment you’re required to pay on time. Late payments mean your financial institution will charge interest on top of what you already owe.

- Potential for higher returns on savings accounts

Because credit unions are member-owned not-for-profits, they can pass along savings to their members. They are governed by people who live and work alongside you, which means they see you as more than a customer.
