After you set up the pass-through and destination servers, you can set up servers to connect to pass-through servers. Creatinga pass-through connection enables the server to forward requests fromusers and other servers to connect to a specified destination server.
Before you begin
Before creating a pass-through connection, verify that thecurrent server is not configured to use a default pass-through server. When a server is configured to use a default pass-through server andit receives a request to connect to a destination server for whichno other connection is defined, it attempts to route through the namedserver to the requested destination. If the named server is not setup to allow pass-through connections to the requested destinationserver, the pass-through attempt places an unnecessary load on bothservers. Complete these steps to verify that the server is notconfigured to use a default pass-through server:
- From the IBM® Domino® Administrator,click the Configuration tab.
- Click Server > CurrentServer document.
- Click the Basics tab and expand the ServerLocation Information section.
- Verify that the Passthru server field isempty.
- If the field is empty, complete the procedure to create a pass-throughconnection..
About this task
Thepass-through connection document specifies the server to use for pass-through,but does not define how to connect to the pass-through server. Ifa server does not have a direct connection to the pass-through serverover the LAN, you must create a separate connection document to definethe path to the pass-through server.
Procedure
- From the Domino® Administrator, click the Configuration tab.
- Select the connecting server's Domino® Directory in the Use Directoryon field.
- Click Server and then click Connections.
