How does OANDA calculate average exchange rate? ›

The period of time over which the average bid/ask currency price is taken depends on the data available for the particular currency. When possible, we take the average of prices over the last 24 hours and use these averages to update the rate every day at 00:00 UTC (Coordinated Universal Time).

The exchange rates provided by OANDA are averages from the global foreign exchange market gathered from frequently updated sources, including our OANDA fxTrade currency trading platform, leading market data vendors, and contributing financial institutions.

Divide your current (home) currency by the exchange rate. For example, suppose that the USD/EUR exchange rate is 0.631 and you'd like to convert 100 USD into EUR. To do this, simply multiply the 100 by 0.631 and the result is the number of EUR that you'll receive: 63.10 EUR.

Conversion rates are calculated by simply taking the number of conversions and dividing that by the number of total ad interactions that can be tracked to a conversion during the same time period. For example, if you had 50 conversions from 1,000 interactions, your conversion rate would be 5%, since 50 ÷ 1,000 = 5%.
